Chapter- 49 💞

Author's Note: These next two chapters have hearts because they are the teasers for the next two spinoffs from this one. They won't be nearly as long...at least I don't think- you know how stuff just pops into my brain as I'm writing...but these chapters set the foundation for future work!

Lore stepped in time with Shoto who had not said another word to her since whisking her away to the dance floor. Thus she allowed her eyes to wander to all the gossiping people at the event. When she caught sight of the woman Shoto had brought as a date snarling at her, Lore sighed heavily. 

"Does dancing with me make you upset?" he asked in his flat voice. 

Lore picked her eyes up to see both of his eyes baring into hers. Her brows furred as she asked softly, "Sho, what are you doing?"

"What do you mean?" he tried to hum innocently. 

"I mean..." he spun her in time with the dance, and when she came back to his arms she continued, "why are you dancing here with me when you could be dancing with your date?"

"My date was just to keep up personal appearances."

"That's not a kind thing to do to her Shoto."

He raised a questioning red brow. "What does that matter to you? Do you know her?"

"It doesn't matter if I know her. Wrong is wrong, and you don't need to be friends with someone to stick up for them."

A very sad smile traced his thin lips as he looked down at her. She could hear the distress in his voice as he said, "You're such a beautiful person. It's one of the reasons I've loved you for such a long time."

"Sho..."

"No please...just listen. I've loved you since the very first month you moved in with us, and I don't believe I realized that fact until recently."

"That's not fair-"

"I know it's not." He sighed in defeat, "I know you're in love with Bakugo, and I begrudgingly accept that fact."

Despite the heartbreak she had for the person she considered her brother, she chuckled, "Begrudgingly."

"Indeed, but it doesn't change the fact that I am happy for you. Of course, I'd be happier with you as mine," she laughed brightly as a tear rolled down her cheek which made him smile at her, "but I want you to be happy Lorna. I-" he cleared his throat to keep his voice emotionless, "I would rather have you in my life as my friend and as a part of my family than lose you to my selfishness."

"Sweet Sho," she cooed as she wrapped her arms up and around his neck. The music stopped indicating the end of the dance, and he hugged her back. 

"I've made a decision," he informed her quietly yet seriously. 

"So many decisions in one night," she giggled. "Does this one have to do with me too?"

"Yes and no. I've accepted Father's proposal."

Lore leaned back in Shoto's embrace to see his unreadable face as she frowned. "His proposal?"

He put her on her feet but kept her hand in his own. "Indeed. I've agreed to an arranged marriage."

....Lore's mind froze...
