Lisa and Jennie were busy preparing dinner when an idea crossed Lisa's mind. She looked around the kitchen and peeked at the door, checking if her lover was around.
"Jisoo-yah." Lisa called, leaning a little bit while peeling some potatoes.
Jisoo looked up at her, raising her brows in curiosity as she kept humming a song but paused in cutting the potatoes that Lisa peeled off.
"I just- I just want to know." Lisa leaned even closer and gestured for the raven-headed beauty to lend her ear.
Jisoo stopped humming and did what Lisa asked her to do.
"Did you perhaps know Your Highness's birthday?" Lisa whispered, then leaned her body away from the dryad.
Jisoo scratched the back of her head, looking so apologetic towards Lisa.
"Actually I don't know. No one here knows her birthday. Creatures like us don't celebrate days like that, so we never celebrate Your Highness's birthday. She also never mentioned anything about that. We don't know anything about birthdays until your birthday comes."
"Oh, is that so?" Lisa asked. She couldn't help but let her disappointment be shown in her face.
"Yeah. Sorry I couldn't help."
Lisa immediately shook her head, guilt flooded her upon the realization that she had made the dryad feel bad. While waving her hands in the air, she uttered, "No, it's okay. Don't be sorry about it."
"Anyway, why did you ask?"
Lisa's cheeks turned pink as she chewed her lower lip and averted her gaze from the dryad.
"It's just that I wanted to surprise her on her birthday too. I wanted to give a gift to her, just like what she did for my birthday and my father's. She's been doing things to make me happy, so this time I wanted to make her the happiest."
Jisoo elicited a soft chuckle as she continued cutting the potatoes in her hand.
"You know even if you haven't given anything to Your Highness or surprised her, I know that she's always the happiest when she's with you. I know it. We're already servants of Your Highness before she even encountered your parents and, I swear, I had never seen her smile that wide before."
Jisoo looked back at Lisa as she put the potatoes in her hands in a bowl.
"Believe me. Your Highness doesn't need anything to be happy. You don't need to exert too much effort or spend some pennies on a gift. Your presence alone, and staying by her side would be more than enough to make her the happiest .. "
Lisa slowly nodded her head. She was happy to hear those things. She was happy to know that she was Jennie's source of happiness even in the simplest things, but she still wanted to at least celebrate Jennie's birthday.
Lisa no longer cares if she would no longer surprise or hand her a gift. She just wants Jennie to spend her birthday with her, especially after knowing that Jennie had never celebrated a birthday with her servants.
