ERIS
"You guys need to learn to be quieter," Alana laughed.
"I can't help it. He makes me feel pleasure like never before!" I exclaimed, and she made a face.
"Uhm, I don't want to hear about the sex you have with my brother, thank you very much," She laughed.
"Well, sex with your brother gave us a chance to go out," I said, looking at some cute shorts on the rack. I frowned; unfortunately, none were available in my size.
"I hate leaving my babies behind, but I knew with only three hours I needed to do as much shopping as I could," She said as she added to the pile of clothes she already had.
"You're buying the whole store? You know it won't be the last time we go out, right?" I laughed.
"With Nathan acting that way? I don't think so," Her face lit up as she added another pair of pants. "I'm going to try this on," She walked away, and I was left alone between the sparkly shirts and the bedazzled stockings.
I wasn't in the mood to buy anything. I just wanted a breath of fresh air. I looked up to see our security by the door. When Nathan said we were getting bodyguards, I pictured tall men in suits and sunglasses with cool earpieces. I got the tall part correct, but they were dressed casually. It was probably to blend in, and they were failing miserably. Mainly because this was a woman's boutique, and they were definitely out of place. Chris and David, our security team, in a lady's store. Hilarious. I walked over to the lingerie section of the store. I don't even know what I'm looking for. Do I get the ones covered in rhinestones or the ones with the word BABY in big letters on the ass? I turned to look at a mannequin on the wall and stepped back. Is that candy on a thong?
"Excuse me?" I turned around, and a woman was standing there. I felt my cheeks burn up. She witnessed me admiring an edible thong. Can it get any more embarrassing than that?
"Yes?" I asked. She panicked and walked away quickly. I tried walking after her, but she disappeared from the store. I stopped right at the door and looked at Chris. He narrowed his eyes at me, and I sighed. We all had to be in one store, no separating.
"Eris?" Alana called out, and I turned around. She came to me with bags in her arms and the widest smile. "I'm done here," She looked down at my empty arms and frowned. "Are you not getting anything?"
"Nothing caught my eye," I waved over at Chris and grabbed her hand. "Let's go to a different store,"
We walked out, and Alana started talking about all the clothing she got, but I couldn't concentrate. I kept looking around for the woman who came up to me. We passed by a lingerie store, and I stopped.
"What? Do you want to stop here?" Alana asked, and I nodded. She laughed and handed the bags to the boys.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the store, "Let's look for something that will make you sexy for my big brother," She shook her head, and I laughed nervously.
"Is everything okay?"
"Y-yeah, just," I picked up a sparkly bra and showed it to her. "I didn't think I would be this nervous about shopping for lingerie in front of you,"
"Don't worry, come on, let's get you fitted," There was so much lingerie in the store that I had never seen before-underwear with holes in the middle, bras with spikes, and the dreaded edible thongs. I got a lot of matching pairs and sets with clips and ties. Surprisingly, Alana knew a lot about all this. She even gave me tips on tying the knots so they could be easily undone. I began to get nervous when I saw that they were filling up more than one bag with the items.
"Lingerie is expensive. If he wants to see you desirable, he needs to pay the price," She commented. The total came up on the screen, and I shook my head. She shoved me out of the way and paid for everything. They handed us the bags, and we walked out of the store.
"It's almost time to go," I said as I read Nathan's message, reminding us how much time we had left.
"Come on, let's go to the shoe store. Maybe we can get you some nice heels to match," She winked.
I wish she hadn't dragged me in there. She made me try on countless heels, which made no sense because I only wore them when I had a special occasion. We ended up with six pairs for both of us, and I was burned out. I wanted to get home already. As we were walking out, I spotted the woman again. She was examining our every move from a safe distance. One of our men pulled me away, and she walked away. Is it all a coincidence that I keep seeing her? We were loading up the car to head back home when I saw her again, but this time in a vehicle.
"Is everything okay, Ms. Cadieux?" Chris asked, and I nodded. I turned around to see Alana climbing into the back seat and heard tires screech. As I spun around, I saw a car speeding toward us, and Chris blocked my way. There were loud gunshots, and people were screaming. The car sped off, and Chris stumbled back. For some reason, I thought I could catch a six-foot man-big mistake. I fell under him with a thud.
"Ms. Cadieux, what happened?!" I heard David's voice.
"There w-was a lady following us and her car it-," I tried explaining. There was blood gushing out of Chris's side, and I attempted to use my hands to stop it. David carefully moved his body off of me and tended to the wound.
"Eris!" Alana screamed as she ran over to me.
"Ms. Rylan, make sure you keep her talking," David demanded as he grabbed his phone.
"I'm fine, I think," I looked at Chris's pale body and then down to the floor. There was a pool of blood forming around him.
"I don't think we are going to be able to go out anymore," I looked up at Alana. Her eyes were fixed on the blood all over me. "I should've gotten those shorts,"
I heard the sirens in the distance, and my phone started ringing. I knew Nathan was checking up on us, but I couldn't pick it up. I didn't know if Chris was alive or dead. All I knew was that his blood was on me, and it would be my fault if he died.
