ERIS

"W-what?" I laughed nervously.
"I see the looks you exchange with each other. You are always so antsy when you're around him or when you guys stay alone," She looked down at Emma and chuckled. "Does this mean you're in love with both of them?"
"No, I love Nathan," Without a doubt, my feelings for him haven't changed.
"You just have a sexual attraction with Mathew?" I felt my cheeks heat up. It was weird talking about this with her. It was her brothers. They have already been through a lot, and I don't want to come between them.
"I don't know. I've always felt some attraction from the moment I met him. He says things to me to make me feel this way," I laid back and groaned. "Alana, I don't know what to do,"
She started laughing, and I looked over at her. She put down Emma and hunched over in laughter. I sat up and waited for her to calm down.
"I'm sorry," She laughed. "It's amusing. You're in love with both of them,"
"I don't love Mathew," I played with my hands.
"You aren't, but some other part of you is obviously craving him," She laughed. As if it was even possible, my cheeks became hotter.
"I don't know what to do. Ever since we had that moment, he hasn't stopped trying to. . . coax me."
"As long as he doesn't try to force himself on you," She warned.
"I don't think those are his intentions..."
"Well, whatever they are. I think you should tell Nathan about the kiss,"
I sighed. She's right. I need to get over my fear and tell him.
"You can't be lying to him. It's tough for him to trust, and if he finds out from somewhere else, he won't like that."
"He lied to me from the moment I met him," I argued.
She nodded. I couldn't help but feel guilty. He felt so regretful when he lied to me. I shouldn't lie to him just because he did.
"Alright, I'll tell him," I stood up.
Their car pulled into the driveway outside, and my heart dropped.
"It's now or never," She stood up with Emma in her arms.
"I can't, not right now," I sat back down, and she walked up to me.
"You needed an open window. There it is. You just have to rip off the bandage,"
"Maybe we could go out to dinner, and I'll tell him there o-or while we're having sex!" I laughed. "He'll be distracted,"
"Really? and what? just as he is about to finish, 'Hey, by the way, I had a steamy makeout session with your brother' Is that really the way you want to do it?" She mimicked.
The car door slammed shut, and they began making their way in. My heart started racing, and I stared at the door. I don't know what I was thinking. I can't do this. It slammed open, and Nathan's eyes met mine. He knows. He walked over to me, and Mathew stepped in. I can't believe he actually told him! Nathan picked me up and kissed me. I was stunned at first but then kissed him back.
"Get a room," Mathew muttered as he passed by us.
"or maybe just do that," Alana commented.
I pulled away and looked up at him. He smiled, and I stepped away from him.
"Is everything okay?" I asked hesitantly, and he smiled.
"I feel so happy. I missed you all day, and I couldn't wait to see you," My heart dropped. I couldn't lie to him anymore.
"The window is opened!" I heard Alana say behind me. Nathan turned around, confused, and looked out the window.
"Lana, what are you talking about?" He laughed.
"Mathew and I kissed," I blurted out. His smile faded. Shit. This is not the way I wanted to do this.
"What?"
"It was sudden a-and it only happened once. I-it didn't mean anything. I'm s-sorry," I walked up to him, and he stepped back.
He looked behind me and then scoffed.
"You kissed her?!" He stepped forward, and I stood in front of him.
Mathew came up to us and said, "It was a mistake," Ouch.
The only thing between them was me; I don't think that is the most suitable place to be right now. Anywhere else but here would be better.
"I kissed him," Nathan turned to look at me. The look on his face hurt me. He was furious.
"How long ago?" He asked through gritted teeth.
"It happened when you went to the doctor with Alana,"
He scoffed and turned his attention back to Mathew.
"You need to leave now,"
"He can't leave. He is helping us get whoever is coming after us,"
"No!" I flinched at the sudden raise of his voice."This is exactly why I didn't want you in our lives! All you do is come and ruin it! We were doing fine before you came,"
"That is not fair!" I matched his voice volume. "It's not his fault I have such an abusive ex-boyfriend or that you have shitty employees that plan bomb attacks on your building! If anything, he came here to help us. He warned us about the people looking for me thanks to your mistakes," His facial expression didn't change the entire time I talked to him. "You have been waiting for him to mess up so you can have the excuse to make him leave. This is still not a good reason to kick him out because I was the one that kissed him,"
I don't know where that adrenaline rush came from, but I knew I had hurt him. His face softened, and he looked away from me.
"Let's go finish this conversation in private," I went to grab his hand, but he jerked it away. He shook his head and walked out of the room.
"Where are you going?"
I wanted to go after him, but Mathew held me back. "Let him blow off some steam,"
Nathan slammed the door, and I frowned.
"Maybe you should've done it your way," Alana said.
I turned to look at her and said, "I really messed this up,"
