ERIS

I hear the sirens. I opened my eyes slowly, and someone opened the back doors. Everything was happening in slow motion. They began pulling us out one by one, and the sunlight hurt my eyes.
"Ma'am? I need you to keep your eyes open." The voice was distant. I tried looking around, but I couldn't move. "We are on the way to the hospital, but you need to stay awake,"
Weren't we just on the way to the hospital? What the hell happened? Did someone crash into us, or did the driver cause the truck to flip?
"Nathan," I whispered. "Where's Nathan?" When I tried to sit up, they pulled me back down.
"Ma'am, please stay still. We don't know the extent of your injuries," I was put into another ambulance and felt it moving.
The whole time I tried to keep my eyes open. They were doing the same routine on me that I saw on Nathan. After a couple of minutes, we stopped, and I panicked, thinking we were about to start rolling again. The doors swung open, and they pulled me out. Different people appeared in front of me. I could see their lips moving, but I couldn't hear them. I had a massive headache and wanted to get away from the sunlight. Slowly I could listen to the noises around me become clearer.
"What the hell happened?!" Mathew's face appeared in front of me but was quickly pulled away.
"Sir, you can't be in this room. The doctors need their space to work,"
"She was fine! How is it possible she arrived on a stretcher?!"
"Sir, please, you need to go to the waiting room and wait for an update from the doctor,"
I groaned in pain when they touched my head and arms.
"Can you hear me? Can you tell me your name?"
"Eirs," I whispered before everything fell dark again.

~

Beep. Can someone turn off the alarm, please? Beep. Wait, I knew this noise. I recognize the funny-smelling room Beep. Here I go again with the aggravating noise. Beep. Come on, Five more minutes of rest. Beep. I slowly opened my eyes and let them adjust to the light. Beep. I groaned. Thank you, heart monitor, for reminding me that I was still alive.
"Don't strain yourself. The doctor said you need your rest," Mathew spoke up.
"What happened?" My voice was raspy. Mathew stood next to me and grabbed my hand.
"The ambulance you were in was t-boned on the way to the hospital," He was in rough shape. He still had debris on him, and a few cuts and bruises were visible.
"Nathan?" I asked. He pointed next to me, and I turned around with the strength I had. Nathan and Alana were lying on their beds, sleeping.
"How are you?" I asked, turning my attention back to him.
"I've been through worse," He chuckled.
"Where is Elijah? Is Emma okay?"
"Devi calmarti, dea" He smiled.
What the fuck? "I'm sorry, I must've hit my head pretty hard. I'm pretty sure I heard you in a different language,"
"He said you need to calm down," Nathan spoke up, and I turned to look at him. "goddess?"
"It suits her," Mathew laughed.
"You understood what he said?" I asked, and Nathan slowly nodded. "We both know a little Italian,"
"One more than the other," Mathew teased.
Nathan glared at him and looked around. He laid back and sighed.
"Are you in pain, little brother?" Mathew walked over to him, and Nathan chuckled.
"You know what happens when you call me that,"
"Yeah, but you can't do anything about it,"
Nathan tried to sit up, but Mathew walked away.
"Mathew, don't provoke him," I warned. He went to sit next to Elijah, and then I frowned.
"You didn't reply to my question about Emma,"
"They took her somewhere else so they can keep an eye on her,"
"Have you heard anything about what happened? Nathan asked.
"I've heard some talk. We can discuss it later,"
"You can talk about it now. I want to listen as well. Considering I'm involved now, too," I said to Mathew, and he shook his head.
"It's fine, Mathew," Nathan reassured.
   "La farai preoccupare
"Dilo a lei."
"Non ho intenzione di"
"English, please," I begged. Mathew sighed and looked at me.
"There were two bombs placed in the building intentionally. One in the basement and one on the fifth floor," He glared at Nathan before continuing. "The one in the basement blew up first to mess with the foundation of the building. The second one was intended to hurt people. It was close to the stairway,"
"Where they knew everyone would be trying to exit from," I finished his sentence, and he nodded. "Have you found out who or why they did it?"
"They waited for us to leave. I talked to one of the guards. He said a man at the front desk was talking to the receptionist. He walked in a little bit after we left. He passed it to one of them and then went into the restroom. The guard went to ask what it was, and the receptionist said he had just asked her to hold it while he went in. The security switched positions, and I had to find who the other one was." He took a pause and then continued. "He said he didn't see anything. A few minutes later, the first bomb went off."
"How did you find all of this out so quickly?" Nathan asked.
"You guys have been out for about a day. They told me they would call if anything changed. I wanted to find out what happened,"
"Did he describe the guy with the backpack?"I asked.
"No, the first one said he was wearing a cap. He had light brown hair, and he couldn't see his face,"
"And the receptionist?"
"I can't remember her name. It's that bitch that was giving you trouble when I first met you."
"Crystal,"
