ERIS
It was quiet. Nathan had just finished catching up with Alana on everything. She looked between all of us, and I pursed my lips. I looked at Mathew and Nathan then they looked at each other.
"How can they do this?" Alana looked at Elijah. "They killed people. They almost killed us. My babies almost died," she sobbed. I hugged her and looked at Nathan.
"Once she is stable enough, I will move all of us to a more secure location," He said, and I nodded.
The doctors spent the rest of the day checking up on Alana while Nathan arranged for us to move out of there. They brought Emma later in the day, and Alana was allowed to leave.
We were now in a moving van far away from the hospital. No one said a single word the entire drive. I didn't know what to expect from our temporary home.
The van pulled into a driveway of a small house. Nathan got off first and told us to wait. He returned a few minutes later, and we all got out of the van. I grabbed Elijah and Mathew extended his hands. I shook my head and walked away from him. I walked into the house and felt a breeze. It gave me flashbacks of when I walked into Stacy's house. Oh my gosh. The picture!
"Nathan," I said in a panic, and he turned to look at me. "The picture. The one I took from Stacy's house."
"I'll have someone go look for it. Plus other stuff in the apartment." He reassured me, and I nodded.
I sat on the couch and looked down at Elijah. Thankfully, he was fine.
"Everyone will get their room. The stay here is temporary. I don't know how long, but as soon as I have an update on things, I'll let you know," Nathan addressed everyone as he sat down next to me.
"These are certainly not soundproofed," Mathew commented. I looked up at him, and he winked at me. Nathan hadn't found out about our heated, secret moment, and I don't intend to tell him any time soon. Maybe, not at all.
"What are we going to do in the meantime?" Alana asked.
"Mathew and I will keep trying to figure out why they would do this," Nathan rubbed his face. I felt so bad. He looked exhausted.
"What about the people that were planning to come after me?" I asked.
"We are working on that as well. We will all be safe here for now," Mathew said, and I nodded. He didn't take his gaze off me. I know he wanted to tell me something, but I didn't plan to be alone with him again after the last time. That's when bad things happen.
"I'll order dinner," Nathan suggested and stood up.
"Let me take Elijah to the room so you can get comfortable," Alana said, and I shook my head. Why is the universe so against me?
"I got him. It's fine," She took him from me, and I frowned. She walked away, and I pursed my lips.
"Can't stop thinking about it either?" Mathew questioned.
I didn't dare to meet his eyes. I don't know how I would feel if I did.
"You can't ignore me forever,"
I looked down at my fingers and attempted to whistle.
"I can tell Nathan, and Maybe that will get your attention,"
My head snapped up to meet his eyes.
"You wouldn't dare,"
"I would. I'll do it right now if it means you start talking to me again,"
I glared at him. I can't believe he was blackmailing me. And for what? So I can talk to him again? What if he told Nathan, and he threw me out like trash? I deserve it. For being a cheating, lying girlfriend. I groaned. I should've never kissed him. It's become a big mess, and I don't know how to deal with it.
"The food will be here in about an hour," I was relieved when I heard Nathan's voice again. "Is everything okay?"
"Yes," We said in unison.
Can we be any more obvious? Nathan sat next to me, and I smiled at him. I placed my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. No matter what was going on around us, he always had a way of making me feel secure. Why did I put myself in this position?
I couldn't stop looking over at Mathew over dinner. He was right. I couldn't stop thinking about it. About him. His hands on me and his lips on mine. It was like poison.
I looked at Nathan as he fed Elijah. He was amazing. I was in love with him. It's like Nathan had my heart and Mathew had my. . .head. It was all confusing.
I looked at Alana as she made a face at Emma, trying to make her laugh. She was the only person at this point who I could talk to about this.
I looked down at my food and chuckled. I'll talk to her tomorrow.~
I bit my lip as I watched Alana change Emma's diaper. I was so tense. I know I said I would talk to her, but how do I even bring this up? Maybe I shouldn't. I'll just tell Mathew to leave it alone. This will all blow over in a few days.
"I kissed Mathew," I slapped my mouth closed as soon as I blurted it out. She turned to look at me and my cheeks heated up. Alana is going to tell Nathan, and they are going to despise me. I can fix this. What else sounds like kissed?
"What?" She picked up Emma and cooed her to sleep.
"I made out with Mathew. He was tempting me. It happened when you went to the doctor with Nathan. He was right there, and he was so seductive. I couldn't handle it. I stopped it before it went on any further I couldn't keep this inside anymore. I had to tell someone. Please don't hate me," I gasped for air, and she stared at me. It was quiet for a few minutes, and I searched her face. It was killing me that I couldn't tell what she was thinking. I shouldn't have said anything.
"I knew something was going on between you two," She narrowed her eyes at me.
Next time, I'll stay quiet.
