The Devil's Thirst Trap

Chapter 39

"Lily, what are you doing?", Zoey held one hand out as a guard and another behind her back, trying to direct her path of way and she tried to move backward. "Just put the knife down and let's talk this through, okay?"

Lily took small and steady steps closer to Zoey and finally pounded on her, Zoey quickly grabbed the pot she was now reaching for and blocked the path of the knife that Lily was holding. Zoey held Lily's wrist that was holding the knife and Lily's head with the pot but nothing happened. Zoey looked at the pot to see that it was dented and imprinted with Lily's face on it, she was shocked about this but all Lily did was laugh.

"You'd think that would actually work?", Lily snarled at Zoey. "You're much dumber than I thought you would be!", Lily exclaimed.

Zoey quickly lifted her knees together in unison and kicked out to Lily's stomach and got up quickly, making Lily groan in pain, mockingly.

"You're not Lily...Who the hell are you?", Zoey questioned but she got no response.

"I'm your worst enemy, honey.", Lily stated.

Zoey quickly threw her one leg up in the air to kick Lily but Lily dodged her attack and jabbed Zoey in the stomach causing her to quickly hold her hand over her stomach with one hand. Zoey quickly jumped over the counter to reach the other side to grab a kitchen knife and held it in a defensive mode. Lily smirked and gestured for Zoey to come at her as she walked closer to Zoey, she quickly flung the knife at Lily which hit her heart immediately and Lily immediately faded into dust.

Zoey sighed as she walked over to the scene and saw the knife that was the only thing left there saying 'Stainless Steel', in small print on the side of it.

"Huh...", she muttered under her breath as she tilted her head sideways.

Zoey's ears perked up at the sound of police sirens going off in the area.

(Shit...she must have called the police as soon as she went in the kitchen earlier on.), Zoey thought to herself as police vehicles started to surround the front of the house. She quickly ran through the back door.

Zoey jumped the fence to go into the neighbor's yard and pulled off a hoodie from the line and put it on. She pulled out her cell phone and started to dial Lily's number, but it went straight to voicemail, so she called Dante, but his cell phone too was on voicemail.

(What the hell is going on here...?), Zoey thought to herself.

Zoey ran into the mansion and slammed the doors shut behind her after looking to see if there were any police vehicles or anyone suspicious.

"Is everything okay?", Alex asked which made her body jerk in shock.

"Alex...Lily...Dante...", Zoey muttered under her breath in shock at what just happened to her.

Alex held her in his arms but she pulled back quickly.

"What's wrong? I don't understand what you're saying.", Alex stated

"How do I really know if it's my Alex?", Zoey questioned him as she backed up wearily.

Alex took long strides toward Zoey until she was backed up against the wall.

"Because I broke your heart many times but you still loved me for me, no matter my awful ways.", Alex said warmly as he gently caressed her cheek, making her tear up but he wiped it. "Don't cry, please don't my, explain what's going on."

Alex then put his hand around her waist but she flinched in pain and held her hand over her wound, his eyes widened in shock as his eyes trailed to her hand.

"Zoey, who the hell did this to you?", he growled furiously. "You know what, don't answer that now, we need to get you patched up.", he stated as he carried her gently in his arms.

"I decided to visit Lily after talking with Alexa....she seemed perfectly normal...I...It's so hard...I don't know whether I just killed my best friend or someone who tried to act like her.", Zoey said as she held her hand over her mouth and tried her best not to cry.

Alex hugged her gently as he ran his hand over her head.

"You don't have to worry too much, for now...I think it was a vampire.", Alex stated.

"How...?", she queried.

"There are vampires that carry all traits of a normal vampire but... they can have special and different abilities. But the most important thing we have to focus on right now is the shapeshifters.", Alex said as he used his free hand to run over his hair.

"If you don't mind me asking...what type of vampire are you then?", Zoey asked as she straightened up her body.

Alex gave off an awkward laugh. "My parents were poor, my mom died and my father work to the bone to create the company 'Griffin's and Co.', he had this crazy idea in the past, and I made it come into play with his hard work. I was basically in the lowest rank of vampires. The apple that Sabrina threw on the floor, that's what made me into my strongest form. I'm in the highest ranking now.", Alex stated as he pulled Zoey towards his chest and placed a kiss on her head.

"Alex...please help me find Lily and Dante, they wouldn't have just left like that without telling me. It's like...I can feel it...That clone...or shapeshifter, I could feel like she didn't have a heartbeat. It was like as if I could hear everything louder.", Zoey stated as she clutched Alex's shirt gently.

Alex's body stiffened up as he kept quiet and sat upright.

"Zoey...there's something I need to tell you.", Alex stated as Zoey hear the tremor in his voice.

"What's wrong?", Zoey asked as she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"The day I... bit you, you turned into a vampire and your powers awakened and became stronger.", Alex said as he looked into her eyes for a reaction.

"W-what...?", Zoey muttered under her breath as her eyes widened in shock.
