Being the boyfriend to a superhero is not easy. You have to keep your relationship a secret. You have to cancel date plans and spend nights alone. But this one is new.
"My DNA is still mutating?!" Shrieked Gwen as she examined the test results.
Gwen took a blood test after feeling a bit weird in the past week. For a normal person it could be chalked up to eating something weird or having a off week but for a genetically modified human it could be something serious.
"Oh baby, it will be okay, I'm here," I said, trying to comfort her. She grabbed my hand and gave me a weak smile.
"I don't know babe, this might be a big one," she said nervously.
"What do you mean?"
"I think it's going to change me into something that you won't recognize, something more spidery."
"Well, it's a good thing I like spiders," I said, pulling her into a kiss. She laughed a little before becoming sober again, her thoughts drifting to her uncertain future.

I entered the abandoned warehouse, balancing a stack of pizzas and a heavy bag of 2-liters sodas. Once inside I flickered the lights on and walked to the living room.
Carefully placing the boxes on the table I stretched before floppy on the couch exhausted.
It's been a year since I left the old apartment and moved into this warehouse refurbished into a house. It's good I majored in home architecture and renovation. We needed the space but still close enough to the city for Gwen to continue her crime fighting, in her new style that is.
I looked up from the couch and saw the thousands of webs that covered the ceiling of the warehouse. Things had changed and so had Gwen. Her mutations had made her more spider-like, in a more literal sense.
She had grown white short hair like substance that covered all over her body and had spouted three more pairs of legs along with a massive abdomen. She gained more eyes and a pair of mandibles while still retaining some humanoid features. The now Drider Gwen swung through the city fighting crime, although in a more monstrous way.
Hanging from the many webs were several human shaped pods that were Gwen's most recent victims. Becoming more spider-like she acquired some new eating habits, and with her new diet came a new physique.
"Baby, dinner is here!" I yelled up to the web covered ceiling. The webs quivered as a large dark creature descended down from the shadows and into the room below. Gwen entered the light and gently touched the ground with her eight spindly legs. Before me was Gwen as big as a hippo and just as fat, who knew a diet of human criminals was so fattening.
"This looks delicious dear," she said with the clanking of her mandibles and a hiss in her voice. She gracefully skittered to the table and lifted open the first pizza box. Grabbing the whole pie she stuffed it into her dripping mouth and quickly devoured it. She patted her large belly before letting out a loud burp, which caused some of the pods to struggle.
"Hah, it's good to have solid food."
"How was work baby," I asked as I grabbed a slice for myself.
"Some criminals never learn. You'll think being a literal spider would scare them off. Well, no matter, more food for me."
I looked up once more to the ceiling. If I don't love my girlfriend I would be screaming to the hills upon seeing these pods. I pushed down any thought of Gwen eating the liquid remains of humans and went back to my dinner.
"Oh, I almost forgot I have something to show you," said Gwen. She quickly took another pizza pie and stuffed it into her hungry maw before she crawled up the wall and into her ceiling web. She crawled around the darkness, my eyes straining to see her large body. After a couple of minutes she reappeared but this time she was carrying a large web ball nearly the size of her abdomen in between her spider legs.
"Surprise!" She announced as touched down on the floor.
"Um, what is it?" I asked as I felt a little uneasy in my stomach.
"Our brood!" Gwen cheered.
"Our what?!"
"Our children! Laid them a couple of months ago," Gwen smiled as she clutched her hands together and brought it up to her plump face.
"How, when?!"
"Before the transformation. Had it incubating inside for some time."
I took a step back, afraid.
"Oh don't be like that. I'm not that kind of spider who eats their males. I would never hurt you," she said reassuringly as she stepped closer to me. "Besides, isn't this what you want, to have a family."
"Not this soon," I stuttered, taking another step back.
"Well you better brush up those fathering skills because they will hatch in a couple of months and soon we'll have little spiderlings all over this city!" She exclaimed as she grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. She squeezed tightly as she looked into my eyes, "isn't that great, dear?!"
I gulped and nervously smiled. "Yes baby."
