These fears and images
Fill my lungs like smoke
In nightmares that continue
While I lie awake
A dizzying haze of thoughts
Clouds infecting my veins
And fogging my mind
Am I still awake?
My body aches for relief
Someone's forgiving hand
To pull me back to reality
Are you sure I'm breathing?
Eyelids swaying in darkness
An icy spine tingles
From these sickening images
Can you stop them please?
Fingers twitching for warmth
Throat sore from gasping
Heart wrecked from the drums
Come back, don't go
My mind is melting to tar
Sickening to live this way
I'd prefer a kiss from Death
But I still remain awake
