Why?

Why does she keep falling
For the ones she can't touch?
Why can't she stop caring too much
But just enough to stay alive?
Why can't she fall asleep
To the sound of the pouring rain
Like she once could so easily?
Why does she choose poison
Over the fountain of youth?

Addicted to the pain
Tied to the anchor and thrown out to sea
She let's the water fill her lungs
But wants to break free still.
What a strange contradictory girl
Who walks on glass to resist love
Who tiptoes around the ones-
She can't possibly upset.
She can't breathe anymore
Even though she could once fly
And laugh for hours
Now the light is getting dim
At the loss of the love she never had.
Why does she expect failure
When she hasn't even spoken?
What is it about them
That she can't stop wishing she had?

These feelings are a burden on you
Even though they were never yours
To begin with.
