For the broken

I can't see the dawn, darling
It's darker than I'd thought
The rose bush isn't just petals
The spines are cutting me up
I used to think I could fly
But my wings are soaked to the bone
Would you light my path
And scare off the shadows?
I miss the colorful sunrise
Tell me it's on it's way.

Dearest, the sun is rising
Won't you stay awake for it?
It'll be worth it I swear
The dark is cold and scary
I know you're near your end
But god, if you cut your rope
I don't know how I'd cope
Maybe I'd follow suit
Perhaps I'd just remain a shell
Love, why don't you see
The world doesn't mean much
Without you and me
