I'll keep pretending I'm numb
Until my seams split to pieces
Distractions only work so long
This ache is bigger than me
Adding flowers makes it pretty
But these lungs are so barren
They've dried up and wilted away
"Can I hold your hand?"
This silence is defending
The heat makes me shake
Cinder blocks on my chest
Leave me gasping
Fill my shoes with stones
Throw me in a river
Let me sink to the bottom
Until that light is gone away
What I'd give to touch you
"Too much," they say
Lie me on a bed of roses
Paint me the same color
The thorns make me feel alive
Run my hands down my sides
Wishing it were you instead
This hole in my chest is eating me
My fingers shake for your skin
Lift my chin and whisper your love
Cry myself to sleep again
