Yuta and Sicheng had been together for many centuries, and have been inseparable from the first day they met. Even though neither of them had a home, possessions, or their own money to get around in life, they somehow managed to make the best of their lives as a dynamic duo. They chose to live a short distance away from the human's city, to ensure that they wouldn't encounter people more than they would have to. Because Sicheng hated having to take blood from other people and would risk starving himself to ensure he wouldn't have to, Yuta made it his mission to be the one to take blood from humans. After he would take their blood, he would let his friend feed from him to help him feel more comfortable.

However, this was still very bad for Yuta. Because he shared a generous amount of his acquired blood with Sicheng, he wasn't getting the sustenance he needed. He didn't mind sacrificing his health for his best friend's sake, but he knew that all of the centuries of sharing his blood with him was catching up with him. Eventually, he resorted to try and mask his growing lust for blood by feeding from himself. However, this only made his condition much worse. As a vampire, feeding from himself was utterly useless, seeing as he was a being that couldn't produce its blood. As he continued to do this, he only made himself ill, but he did everything he could to hide it for Sicheng's sake.

Like every other special time of the year for them, once Yuta's birthday came around, Sicheng would take the older out into the city and spend all of his collected money on something special for him. After they spent the whole night celebrating his birthday, they would go to sleep in their makeshift home for the next two days to wait for Sicheng's birthday. But this particular year, Sicheng knew something was off with Yuta two days prior to his birthday. This time around, he woke up to find that Yuta wasn't laying next to him on their mattress. He was confused since he had just woken up, but he figured out that he was outside once he heard the older's voice. But when he exited their home to greet his friend, he found him coughing on the ground with a small pool of blood in front of him, some of the blood dripping from one of his hands and from his mouth.

"Hyung! What happened?!"

Sicheng exclaimed as he ran over to his friend to help him. But once he got closer, he got a better look of how bad Yuta's condition actually was. He was incredibly pale, he was shaking and his skin was a lot colder to the touch, and his eyes were a dark shade of red. He looked seriously ill, but he quickly stood up as if he was completely fine.
