Taking up most of the space on the bench as she lays down, Mars blows out air from her lips, her eyes closed to stop the sun from giving her a headache. Not that it helps much, though that may have more to do with the dehydration than anything. She should probably get some water, but currently she's recovering from her loss at the high jump.

"Hey, fourth place isn't bad," Reggie tries to help, sitting in the minimal space on the corner of the table.

Mars groans from her position, annoyed. "Fourth doesn't even make it on the leaderboard. If we were in primary school it would've only gotten me a stupid participation medal. Do you know how many participation medals are just hidden in a box somewhere in my house?"

"Quite a few, I'd imagine."

A sound of annoyance makes Reggie let out a chuckle as he looks over to watch his girlfriend lift her head up to give him a death stare. "There's this thing called supportive."

"How many times have you said that you're terrible at sports?"

"No, nuh—uh, you're not getting out of this," Mars ignores the question. She sits up, crossing her legs and holding onto her calves. "Su—por—tive. Be it."

"You have a lot of demands," Reggie says, pretending to complain about it. He breathes in, his lips pressed together as he shakes his head. "But fine, I doubt that there are more than half a dozen participation awards in your house because you are amazing at absolutely everything you do and this was simply a fluke. In your honour, I will ask for a replay."

"Okay," Mars gives in, her hand lifting in a stop motion. "Dial it down now."

They both smile at each other, unanimously agreeing to end the joke there. Though, she is a little upset that she came in fourth place for the high jump, she's glad that she didn't have to do anything requiring a lot of effort such as the running races. Mars is definitely not a runner, at least not in sport.

Marcie quickly notices the change in the way Reggie's looking at her. It's different. He's always looked at her that way, with his undivided attention, with that small gleam in his eye that tells her he genuinely enjoys the time spent with her, but she can feel in her gut that this time it's different. There's a layer of thick emotion in his eyes, a tell tale sign that whatever's going to happen next, Mars could never have expected it.
