Y/n finished her midterms a week ago. Not much had happened since then. Thanks to midterms, she hadn't seen Jungkook or Breylin much. He stopped by her apartment a few times to give her flowers and help her study. Otherwise, she distanced herself so she could focus on her studies. Jungkook told her not to come into work unless she had time. Although the internship was her top priority, she gladly took the extra hours to rest and study.

Speaking of Jungkook, she was with him now. It had been almost two months since they started dating. Time was flying, and so was college. She didn't have much longer until her semester was over. By extension, she didn't have much longer until she graduated. As she was a senior, she was in her final year. She considered mastering, but she had decided against it in the long run. She was determined to land a full-time job with Jungkook's company for at least a handful of years. Then, thanks to her connection to Jungkook, she could score huge acting roles.

There was one issue with working with Jungkook: she was in love with him. Like, totally in love with him. She couldn't control herself around him anymore. As she walked with him down one of the pathways in Central Park, she found herself wishing she could say the three big words. He was a gorgeous man who she had fun around. They were physically and emotionally compatible. He was a hopeless romantic who set up dates she couldn't begin to describe. It was perfect. Their relationship was perfect.

Well, almost.

The elephant in the room was becoming more apparent the longer they dated: Y/n was mortal. Unlike Jungkook, she couldn't live forever. That was a topic they'd handle when they got deeper into the relationship, but it plagued Y/n's mind. It bothered her that she'd be on her death bed while Jungkook looked the same. It had her questioning her entire relationship at times. Not enough to consider breaking up with him, but it caused her to ponder her options. She had many, but there were three main ones: come to terms with dying while Jungkook looked not a day over twenty, turn into a vampire before she was thirty, or eventually break up with him due to the differences between them.

She didn't want to think about those options, so she focused on her date with Jungkook. It was the first time she was out at night in a long time. That was because she was with Jungkook, and she was confident the leader of Breylin could protect her. Although she didn't doubt her fighting abilities, there was only so much good technique could do if she was fighting a supernatural being. Granted, she was aware that many vampires wouldn't have the fighting techniques she did, but the biological disadvantages would pile up. Sometimes, skill didn't matter. Sometimes it really was a matter of biology.

"You look pensive," Jungkook said.

"Slow down, I'm not an English major. The fuck does that mean?"

He chuckled, rubbing the back of her hand as he guided her down the dimly lit pathways. The streetlights were on and shining on the concrete sidewalks they trekked down. Few people were around. The ones who were there were primarily men jogging in dark clothes. Y/n wasn't surprised at the lack of women this late at night.

"You look deep in thought. Anything you want to share?" he asked.

"Just thinking about our relationship, really. Nothing too crazy. It's not every day you date someone like you, Jeon."

"I'll take that as a compliment." He knew she was referring to him being a vampire, but since they were in public, neither of them commented on it no matter how deserted Central Park seemed. They continued in silence. It wasn't because they didn't want to speak, rather because they wanted to sit. As soon as they found a bench, they did.

They were by a series of fences. They were short, metal fences that prevented pedestrians from jumping into the lake below. Since it was dark out, and they were in a secluded corner, the fences made sense. Other areas of the park didn't restrict access to the lake, but this sector did. Y/n reached out and skimmed her hand past it, Jungkook grinning at her movements.
