Take My Hand, Brothers

It was quiet.

Jungkook crept forward with his girlfriend by his side, pressing his back against the wall. The room before him was massive, lit by chandeliers while curtains the same color as his vampire eye draped over the two rectangular windows on the far left side of the space. There were ropes around the center of the pristine vicinity, meant to direct guests in the right direction.

Being as silent as possible, Jungkook traversed the ground, his boots squeaking on the checkered floors. The tiles alternated between a light tan and white, Jungkook dipping under the ropes that appeared golden in the low light. Y/n was right behind him, dodging any obstacle in her way.

They got to the other side of the room, but Y/n held them up. Jungkook was about to run into her, but he managed to halt at the last second and lower his voice.

"What is it?"

"Do you hear that?" she asked. Horror washed over his face when he realized he couldn't, and Y/n took his hand, giving it a squeeze. "I hear voices. Maybe two halls down?"

Azazel, who was still hiding in Y/n's hoodie, gave a little purr of agreement. Jungkook was grateful he was smart enough not to do this alone. Walking cloak or not, his hearing wasn't what it used to be. He could've walked into a trap if he didn't have help by his side. The stubborn part of Jungkook wanted to grunt at the thought that he wasn't independent anymore, but he brushed it aside. He earned Azazel. The last thing he wanted to do was do something to change that.

"Follow my lead," she said, and Jungkook was quick to obey.

"Damn girl, order me around like that in bed too."

Azazel reached out of her hoodie for the sole purpose of whacking Jungkook. He grunted and flipped the bat off, but Azazel only gave him an open-mouthed grin that lit up his dark eyes. Jungkook huffed while Y/n chuckled, but the amusement wasn't on her face. He pulled on her hand before they could depart the room. She glanced at him, him furrowing his brows.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked in a mutter.

"We don't have a choice-"

"There's always a choice. Azazel has good ears too. If you want to stay back and guard the back, you can do that. Azazel and I got this. If you do this, I want it to be because you chose to do it. Enough waiting around. You're a vampire now, Y/n. You can make your own choices."

She bit her lower lip, Jungkook getting a peek at her fangs. They were smaller than he was expecting, but that was because she wasn't in her true vampire form. Her eyes weren't glowing, her nails were tucked away. There was a hint of scarlet inside her irises, but that was the most he could see.

"I'm not giving up," she said, softly. Cautiously. "For Jin."

There was no arguing with that, so he kissed the back of her hand and let her lead the way. What was next was a hallway, carpets of maroon squishing under their feet. The walls were decorated with historic art, sometimes portraits of past presidents and important figures. Jungkook paid them no mind.

The lack of guards was concerning, but when he peeked out the windows, he saw the fight going on outside. The vampires were getting closer to storming the building. Jungkook wondered if Namjoon wanted that; if he wanted the president to see the vampires rallying together toward one cause. Or maybe Namjoon was about to make an announcement to the United States using the president as his puppet. Jungkook didn't want to wait to find out.

They were close to where they needed to be. Jungkook heard the distant chatter now. His functional ear picked up on it, him sneaking toward the office not far away. The door was already open, Jungkook keeping his footsteps light. Y/n smelled of dirt thanks to how much she lathered herself up before the mission. Although she smelled gross, her familiar scent was disguised. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing.
