A/N: Recovery has been kicking my ass. I've been in and out of consciousness for the past few days now, and I'm on heavy (legal) painkillers to keep me going. Only problem is, the painkillers get me drowsy. Long story short, if chapters take a bit longer than usual, or if it takes me a bit to reply to comments, it's probably because I'm sleeping 😭
Oh and for those who don't know: I received reconstructive foot surgery on Tuesday morning. I will be unable to walk for 6 weeks, and the full recovery time is 6 months. I had a similar surgery back in May, which also made me unable to walk for 6 weeks. TLDR: ya girl can't walk. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Jungkook had never been more nervous in his long life.
As the camera focused on his face and the reporter directed him to show off his fangs, Jungkook was lost in his thoughts. One day after Y/n's death and the exposure of the vampire world, Jungkook acted fast to get an interview. Since he was the CEO of a famous film company, that wasn't difficult. It was even less difficult when they learned about why he wanted the interview. He was the first vampire to give an interview that he knew of. It was all on him to set the first impressions.
They just went live, the reporter introducing Jungkook as the man from the famous video exposing the vampires. Fangs and blood were found at the scene of the crime, and police were eager to get to the bottom of it. How Jungkook wasn't in jail was beyond him. Innocent until proven guilty, apparently. Although that video was pretty damn good evidence that Jungkook was involved in serious crime.
"Mr. Jeon, can you tell us when you became a vampire?" the female reporter asked, draping her dark braids down her right shoulder. To her credit, she had been respectful the entire time so far. Maybe it was because he was famous, but Jungkook was treated like a human being. Yet that could change at any moment. They didn't know the truth about what he was.
"The oldest vampires can't remember," Jungkook replied, keeping his voice as even as he could. He didn't want to give away unnecessary information. If he wavered for even a second, it would harm his people. Jimin included. "Our brains weren't made for hundreds of years worth of memories. I'm not just any vampire, I'm afraid. I'm the very first one. I'm what we call an original."
"An original? Can you explain that?"
"There are a few originals in America. We have special abilities the other vampires do not. For example, I can teleport and hide from vampires by masking my scent and making my footsteps unnoticeable to our sensitive ears. All our senses are enhanced. I can smell your blood right now."
"And what do I smell like?"
He sniffed the air as subtly as he could, taking in the scent and nearly wincing from it. It was overwhelming. She had a strawberry perfume on, or at least something that smelled that way. It masked plenty of her blood, but he still whiffed it up his nostrils and swirled it around. It was thick. Too thick.
"I can smell your perfume. Strawberry?" he asked, her going stiff at that. "Your blood smells thick. I'd suggest getting blood work done as soon as possible, or trying blood thinners."
She leaned back in her seat, and the air shifted. At first, Jungkook knew he was getting humored. After his display, he knew they believed him: they believed he was a vampire. And that had the woman clearing her throat and plastering her smile back on her face as if nothing happened.
"Should we fear the vampire world, Mr. Jeon? I know you may be biased, but you seem rather polite considering you warned me about my blood."
Jungkook rolled the tip of his tongue around the inside of his mouth. This was it. Yes or no. Jimin was probably at home, watching this live while screaming at the screen for Jungkook to say no. All Jungkook wanted to do was say yes. It was the honest answer, after all. Vampires were deadly to humans no matter what, and Jungkook and Jimin's philosophies couldn't change that.
