Jungkook didn't know why he was doing this.

As he stood outside her door, he found himself regretting his life decisions. Yes, he did that often, but today even more so. It was evening, the sun setting and painting the city in a golden ray of misery, Jungkook's pale skin appearing darker because of it. For a moment, it was almost like he was human again. Almost.

His fist pressed against the door several times. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, but the woman who answered wasn't Y/n. She was tall, not much shorter than Jungkook, her eyes matching his and her dark hair draping down her shoulders. As soon as she saw Jungkook, she cleared her throat and straightened her posture.

"Can I help you?" she asked, her voice higher than it probably naturally sounded. He pretended he wasn't gagging.

"I'm looking for Y/n. Is she home?"

"I have no idea, we don't really talk anymore."

"Wonderful, I don't care. Go ask."

The woman narrowed her eyes, then left to go check. Seconds later, she came back and shook her head. Jungkook grunted and came in, the woman yelling at him to get out. Instead, he went to the door he recognized as Y/n's and knocked on it. There was a muffled "come in", Jungkook snorting and flipping the woman off before entering Y/n's room.

It was just as cozy as he was expecting. He kicked the door shut behind him, locking it in the process. Y/n was cuddled up on her bed. Upon seeing it was just Jungkook, Azazel popped out from under her shirt and cooed. He flew over to Jungkook, accidentally whacking poor Y/n in the head. She groaned, Azazel cackling at her and landing on Jungkook's shoulder. The bat licked Jungkook, him petting his fur.

"Hey bud, I missed you too," Jungkook said, nuzzling his nose against the side of Azazel's head. After, he went closer, leaning against her desk. She sat up and wrapped her covers around her, bags under her eyes. "You look like how I feel."

"Please be a comedian. I laughed so hard." Jungkook chuckled, his soft smile causing her to sigh. "Are you okay?"

"I'm..." Jungkook broke off, Azazel frowning at that. "No, Y/n. I'm not okay. How can I be okay? I feel like I'm fucking up at every turn. First with Jimin, then with you, and now with Breylin. Everything's falling apart and I know it's my fault. I'm not saying this because I want you to pity me or coddle me. No, I'm a grown man, you don't need to pity me. But I can't sit here and pretend everything is okay when it's not. I don't know what to do."

"Maybe start small. Talk to Jimin?"

"We've been trying for decades, but it never works. We can never find a solution that works. I'd be willing to put laws in place in Breylin. I'd be willing to have more leaders controlling Breylin other than just Yoongi, Jin, and me. I'd be willing to not attack humans or cause any chaos. Quite the opposite, in fact. The worst case scenario for me is having to attack humans. If we can avoid it, I'd love to. But those things aren't enough for Jimin. He says I need to surrender my throne and demolish it. I can't give it up. I can't give Breylin up."

"Why?" she asked, but she already knew the answer.

"I built Breylin with my own two hands. They're my family, the only ones I have left after the original seven fell apart. Now I know who's behind these attacks, and I can't focus."

"Jin told me," Y/n said, Jungkook quirking a brow.

"Where is he now?"

"He went to go check on Namjoon, restock his blood while Amon and Azazel here keep me company. I'm surprised Jimin doesn't want his pinky back yet."
