Jimin couldn't breathe.

Namjoon was there, his back pressed against the wall with his hands crossed over his chest. His smile was haunting. In the dim lighting of the office, Namjoon's teeth appeared demonic. As did his eyes.

His tall form came over, towering over Jimin until he shriveled inside himself. He couldn't stop himself from stepping back and preparing to release more bats. Behind his back, he dug his sharp nails into his hand enough to draw blood. Pain skyrocketed through his veins, but he knew whatever he felt, Azazel felt too. Help was on the way.

"I didn't think you'd have any eyes left after I was done," Namjoon said to Jungkook, then, he paused. "I'm sorry, can he hear me?"

Jimin resisted the urge to punch him. "He still has a functioning eye and ear. No need to talk about him like he isn't in the room, yeah?"

"Fine," Namjoon replied, clicking his tongue and going over to the man sitting behind the desk. Namjoon motioned for the man to leave. He did. What remained were three people. Namjoon, Jimin, and Jungkook. They were left alone with the one who almost killed Jungkook with the flick of his hand. The one who snapped Amon's neck without remorse.

"Why aren't you killing us?" Jungkook asked. "You seemed to want to before."

"I wanted Jimin on my side due to his charming nature," Namjoon said, sitting down. "I have no reason to kill Jimin. He's one of the most useful of your bunch. Resistance to loud sounds? Helpful bats? He can charm Breylin into doing my bidding. Why would I want to kill him?"

"I'm nothing more than an asset to you," Jimin said, on the verge of spitting out the words. "Was I never your friend? Jin, you, and I spent decades protecting Y/n together. Was that nothing to you?"

Namjoon's face fell. He tapped his fingers against the desk, his eyes averting to the ground. "You six are all I have. I don't want to hurt you, but the circumstances of the world have changed. We're a dying breed, and it seems I'm the only one willing to make the sacrifices necessary to save the vampire world. If I don't, then my attachment to you won't matter. You'll die anyway. I'm doing this to save all of us."

"Yet you want to kill me," Jungkook said.

"I don't want to. I have to. With you out of the picture, I can rule Breylin and lead us to victory."

"If it's really that big a deal, why not enchant me like you did with the others?"

"You, Mr. Jeon, are insanely hard to find. Out of all the vampires, you and Jin are the hardest due to your abilities. I had plan A and plan B. Plan A was to have Jimin execute you by enchanting him. Jimin, you're a talented man, but you're easy to find thanks to your obnoxious bats and art exhibits. Plan B was to attempt to find you to kill you myself. Enchanting you wouldn't work. I wouldn't have full control. I can't rule from the shadows anymore. It's my turn to talk to the politicians. It's my turn to try to save the world."

"Maybe we could've talked about this," Jungkook said, Jimin glancing at him in time to see a tear rolling out of his eye.

"Cause that worked so well with you and Jimin, right?" Namjoon asked. "You two are nothing but arrogant. You both think you're right, and instead of creating a new world together, you decided to tear each other apart to find an answer that never existed in the first place. I will fix your mistakes and unite the vampire world. I'll listen to my people and make the government give us our rights. No more lawsuits against vampires, no more hunting, no more mass discrimination."

"You say we think we're right," Jimin said, dropping his voice to a whisper. "But isn't that exactly what you're doing now?"

"Mr. Park, I said I would listen to my people. I want them to have a say. I may rule, but I refuse to be a mindless dictator who lets down his people like Jungkook did." Namjoon shifted his gaze to Jungkook. "You've gotten better, Jeon. I'll give you that. You've listened. You've changed."
