Chapter 37: Agent

Dazai: So, mind If I ask what you were discussing with Chuuya?

"Well, it might surprise you but I kind of want to work at the agency" I timidly replied while we slowly walked at the park on our way to my soon-to-be workplace, hopefully. 

Dazai: You kidding me? That's the best news I've heard all day. 

"Hm? And why's that?" I looked up to him and slightly smiled with the corner of my mouth.

Dazai: 'Cause I get to be with you all the time, of course. 

He smirked back as the wind ran through his dark brown hair while we sauntered our way to the agency.  He sure does love to flirt. Well, two can play at that game. 

"I hope you're not shy enough to do the things you promised you'd do to me, though" As I said that, he quickly turned his head to face me with his eyes widened and cheeks red as a rose. 

Dazai: Y-you.. 

I smiled and continued walking, leaving him a bit behind while he freezes in place after hearing the words come out of my mouth. 

Dazai: Wait for me, Y/N! 

He ran cutely as he returned to his place beside me. 

Dazai: Don't flirt with me like that in public or I might get the sudden urge to kiss you. 

"I don't see a problem with that, though? Show them who's yo-

He certainly didn't let me finish, he kissed me with his eyes closed, slowly placing his hand on my waist. I didn't think I would get as flustered as I am right now so I pushed him away and covered my face.

Dazai: hm, what's wrong? 

He chuckled softly, I just know he's laughing at me for feeling so shy after the things I've said.

Dazai: You're adorable. What'd I do to deserve you? 

...

Atsushi: Hey, Y/N! Oh, and Dazai-san, I wouldn't go up there if I were you. Kunikida has been ordering random weapons online ever since you skipped work earlier. 

Dazai: Shoot, and you just stood by watching, Atsushi-kuun???

Atsushi: Ehh? I couldn't do anything, his orders already shipped!

"I knew skipping work was a bad idea, that's why I told you to stay!" 

Yosano: Oh? Dazai, you're back. Can you ask Kunikida to return my cleaver that he borrowed? He said he'd use it for meat. I doubt he meant animal meat though. 

Dazai: Ueurgh.. 

Kunikida: DAZAI?? 

His footsteps got closer and louder after each passing second. I fear what's about to happen to my boyfriend but this is between them so I'll just sit back and watch. Besides, Ranpo just came in with freshly cooked popcorn. 

"Ranpo! You're just in time" I exclaimed while waving and pointing at the seat beside me.

Ranpo: Of course, I sensed something was about to go down.

Dazai: Kunikida-kun, please forgive me! I didn't realize you missed me so much after just a few hours. 

Kunikida: Don't kid with me, Dazai. Do you realize how much work Atsushi took because of you?! 

Atsushi: It was really just one paperwo-

Kunikida: YOU'RE GONNA GET IT!!

I'd like to see something like this everyday, maybe working for the agency is something I should've done long ago. But it makes me wonder if the broken and hopeless me who worked in the Mafia to forget her past would even consider falling in love. 

That's why.. I must go and say what needs to be said;

"Fukuzawa-san, the deeds you do for others are beyond amazing and it would be a great honor to be able to work in this agency for you. Please allow me to prove my worth as an agent that serves this country for the common good!"
