Chapter 33: Dazai's Return

Y/N'S POV

Dazai has yet to come back. I have no idea if he's teasing me or if he's even alive but one thing's for sure; my feelings certainly remain. 

"Any news, tiger boy?"

Atsushi: Oh, hey Y/N! Nope, didn't hear anything about Dazai-san. Also, tiger boy? Sounds funny.

"It's cute, though!" I chuckled, trying to hide the true emotions behind my sullen attempt at hilarious banter. 

Atsushi: I guess, but hey, don't worry too much. He'll come back.

"Everyone keeps saying that but you don't know that for sure, do you?"

Atsushi: I mean.. I do get worried but it's better to jus-

"Just what? Do nothing and hope for the best? What if he's dying and needs our help, have you guys never thought of that?! Aren't you the agency, so why aren-

Just before I finished my sentence, I felt a warm hug from Atsushi. I could sense that he's definitely anxious and worried for Dazai but is forcing himself to believe that he's fine. 

Atsushi: The truth is, Dazai told me something before all of this began. 

"Wh..What do you mean?" I slowly pulled away from the hug but still kept my hands on his arms, refusing to let go. 

Atsushi: He told me this as a preparation for the worst-case scenario. He instructed me not to look for him if he ever goes missing..

"Are you serious? Why in the world would he say that? Just what is he doing? That bastard. If he thinks I'm someone who will foolishly follow his every order without stating his reasons, then he must be the real idiot. If no one's going to help me then I'll do it myself"

Atsushi: No! Please, Y/N. I know it's frustrating but I trust him.. Can you, as well?

This whole time, I've done nothing but trust that guy. Whatever he did or planned to do, I was all aboard despite not truly knowing his intentions nor objectives and he always does the job perfectly, without fail. But this.. I can't simply let this go, no.

"No. Sure, he wanted us to leave him alone but I at least need to know why" 

Jingle

"Who's there" I turned my head as soon as I heard the jingle of the bells attached to our agency doors that indicate whenever someone enters the building. 

...

Atsushi: Dazai-san! 

And to my surprise, there he was. The man we were just discussing a few seconds ago. He looked as radiant as ever, no visible wounds or severe injuries. As I looked into his eyes, I didn't even notice the woman beside him. 

"Dazai" 

He glanced at me for a few seconds then back to the lady he came inside with. I couldn't believe it, who is she and what happened to him for the past weeks?

Hey guys! Author here. Firstly, I wanna thank those who continuously read and support my works, you don't know how much I appreciate ya'll. Secondly, omg 'cause season 4 is coming and I can't wait. I legit wanna read the manga but I'm afraid it'll spoil me lawl. I just found out today that Dazai committed 136 murders like zamn. I don't mind being the 137th though, joke.
