Atsushi: Dazai-san!

Dazai: hey, Atsushi-kun. Will you please escort this lady to Naomi? Thank you.

Atsushi: Uhh..okay? But I'm asking you a ton of questions! Right this way, ma'am.

All I could do was stare. Didn't even walk near him or at least greeted him properly for I had no words at the view.

Dazai: Y/N..

He walked closer to me with a delighted but troubled expression, he took his hands out of his coat pockets and reached out to gently touch my hand which I moved away.

Dazai: I'm sorry for disappearing like that.

...

"Are you alright?" I asked with a small tear in the corner of my eye. I had a lot of questions I wished to ask but the first thing I really wanted to know is if he's fine. I did recall him being shot and poisoned at the same time, if Fyodor was telling the truth.

Dazai: I'm okay, mostly thanks to you.

He smiled but his eyes weren't glistening, I could see the sorrow in them that he's desperately trying to hide.

"Where have you been?" I was about to tear up, I was suddenly struck by the desire to hold him and never let go so I did. I forgot all about how he left without saying anything and making me worry for weeks.

Dazai: Do you really wish to know?

He stupidly asked while I bury myself in his chest and softly hug him as he wrapped his arms around me.

"You idiot. Why wouldn't I want to know?"

Dazai: Well, I don't want you to experience half the pain I suffered. When you left me in the shed, I instantly tried calling Yosano. She didn't come 'cause I was informed that she was busy healing the others.

"What? So you weren't healed?" I lifted myself away from the hug for a bit and touched his wound. And as I did , he winced and groaned from the pain so I immediately removed my hand from it. Looks like he hasn't fully recovered yet. The tremendous Dazai is still indeed human.

Dazai: I was losing a lot of blood. I could die at any point which I longed for many years but I remembered the look on your face as you walked out of the shed. It was as if you knew it's possible that I would die and yet you still left; all to save the agency. I couldn't let you blame yourself if I ever did die. I don't want you to live thinking it's all your fault.

"Look at you, still worrying about me when you were at the verge of dying"

Dazai: Hmm, well you're the person I think most about.

I was surprised enough to gently hit him three times as I blushed underneath his chin.

Dazai: So, I got up and tried to walk. I didn't know most of the roads and places but all of Yokohama's like my playground so I instinctively knew where I could get help. But I ended up in the wrong area and falling right into a territory of gangsters.

"Are you serious? With that wound of yours, you were in no condition to fight"

Dazai: Indeed. So I didn't show myself to them and quietly sneaked into their dominion. If there's one thing I know, it's that an organization such as them would have medical supplies hidden in their underground storage rooms though I felt like I have wandered around that place when I was a kid.

"You're saying you still managed to sneak into their territory without them noticing?  Weren't you bleeding like crazy?"

Dazai: I wrapped a thick cloth around it to stop the bleeding for a while. You're so attentive, Y/N. It makes me want to kiss you.

"Tch. Okay, do one and continue your story" I gave in and let him kiss me, it was more of a peck because I needed to know more of what happened to him alone.

Dazai: You're so cute. Anyways, there weren't a lot of great selection of medical equipment but I had to make the most of it. There was one small bottle with half contents of anesthesia. There was a syringe but it was huge, kind of for bodybuilders, maybe.

"half a bottle of anesthesia? Was that enough, though?" I asked, forgetting the fact that I know nothing about medical terms and how the body is kept alive.

Dazai: I didn't know much. I only watched Mori cure his patients several times but that was mostly because I was trying to convince him to make a deadly but not painful substance for me to drink.

"You couldn't just drink water like a normal person?"

Dazai: Water? There's plenty in the ocean, Y/N. I'm not a fish.

He chuckled. I raised my eyebrow at him and scoffed then waited for his story to continue while I fiddled with his coat collar.

Dazai: I had to take the bullet out on my own, it sucked real bad 'cause it really hurt even after I injected the anesthesia. Well, I'm not a professional.

"That's insane. How'd you even manage to find the bullet lodged in your chest without anyone to help you?"

Dazai: Oh, I don't know. I just fished in there, hoped for the best. Then I sewed it up, not important but I think I did a pretty impressive job on the stitch. Wanna see?

I immediately nodded, moving a bit further from him to take a look at his wound. When he lifted his shirt, I was surprised to see such a messy job of a suture. It looked as if wiggly lines were drawn on his cut and the stitch was nowhere straight, but I didn't feel the need to tell him that. I was just relieved to see him alive even after all he's been through, even more after I found out the bullet was not poisoned.

"It's amazing how your chest still looks appealing" I mumbled to myself.

Dazai: What?

He blushed a little upon hearing my small comment. Maybe I didn't want time to move at that moment, just hugging him right now, hearing what he has to say is all I've ever desired to do after realizing I've fallen in love with this man.

Dazai: Y/N , you're making me blush. I suddenly wanna let everyone know the person behind the reason for my return.

...

Dazai: I love you.
