EMERLYN'S POINT OF VIEW.

"Happy birthday Serena, and Happy late birthday Thomas.." I remarked, well-wishing both Riddles. Tom showed a slight smile in response.

He wasn't one of those, who showed their teeth nor was he one of those who showed their tears. Despite, us being friends since childhood he was always reserved and quiet in his personal issues.

With him being Aromantic and Asexual, he never had an interest in anyone nor would he ever.

On the other hand, Serena was the opposite. She loved the idea of someone mentioning her and had a beaming smile. Serena did have the habit of over-sharing sometimes, which Tom disliked.

Serena also showed interest in both genders.

"I think it's kind of funny how not only me and Tom but Mattheo all have our birthdays in January.." Serena spoke, the peace on Tom's face melting.

"Serena, don't mention--"

"Tom, I get it, he's done wrong," Serena interjected. "That doesn't mean, we can't mention him at all. It's almost like...he doesn't exist.."

"Well to me he doesn't exist," Tom replied sharply, his gaze refusing to soften. "The day he left us, is the day he died for me."

"To you!" Serena asserted. "To me, he is still my eldest brother despite him leaving us!"

There was another difference between these two Riddles.

One was forgiving, and the other never forgot.

"Enough!" I interfered. "Enough arguing!"

The guilt of knowing was slowly beginning to strangle me.

                                                                                 - - - - - - -

"Aren't you going to make a wish?" I asked Serena. Tom wasn't anywhere near.

"My wish?" She inquired. "I have quite a few...but my most desirable wish is to be known to the world, to achieve something big, to be someone."

We exchanged a few chats here and there, the topic of Mattheo staying in my brain but never on my tongue.

"By the way...you didn't tell me who your boyfriend is?"

Serena's body language changed.

For the worse.

"Erm...he's..you'll know...yourself....one..erm..day.."  Serena's brown gaze stuck to the ground. "Hopefully.." A nervous chuckle followed after her words.

"Serena, what are you hiding from me?"

"Is he some lunatic--"

"No--he works a full-time job, he's independent; he's not like one of those; I just don't want to tell right now!"

"Fine. Don't"

Mattheo wouldn't be the best topic to talk about.

                                                                               - - - - - - - -

"Thomas."

I spotted Tom, standing alone on his balcony enjoying the silent view all to himself.

"Are you here to scold me for what I said earlier?"

"No..not at all...you're right for what you feel...and Serena's right to.."

We stood shoulder to shoulder, watching the boiling sun meet its horizon.
