The AQ soldiers that were in close proximity to the flash bang were momentarily stunned by the grenade that emitted an embracing flash of intense light. A blindness followed closely behind the flash which allowed the marines to sneak up on them and permanently subdue them.

Metal bullets whizzed through the building, zooming across the room. Missed gunfire nestled themselves comfortably in the plastered walls, creating apertures in the walls that would not be repaired any time soon.

The interior was painted a pristine ivory while the floor had been tiled with smooth bricks that would certainly be gelid on the soles of your bare feet if you were to walk across it.

The building was to have been formerly occupied by a lovely family but it was now housing AQ soldiers who had no regard for the heirlooms and furniture that were now scattered randomly throughout the rooms.

It looked like a ferocious tornado had swept through the lower floor as unsafe explosions had shredded the wooden columns that once supported the ceiling and kept it vertical and stable.

As Sergeant Dargie proceeded her way into the hallway, she pursued the marines who had eradicated the enemy soldiers inside.

Remaining close to the right wall of the hallway, she made sure not to be pressed up against the oak bannister where the stairs were positioned. She didn't want to be grabbed by her uniform or bulletproof vest from the stairs by an enemy and be trapped.

Even if she was pinned against the outer bannister and held by a foe with their inner elbow around her throat, she would still be able to proficiency get out of it.

She would have to be expeditious and instantaneous because there was a high chance that they could snap her neck in half if they were fast enough.

Flicking her keen eyes around the capacious room, she noted the furnishings that were pressed up against the walls and shoved out of the way to provide space to move.

Rickety metallic and ligneous shelves were leaning immobile against the walls which held wood crates of assorted ammunition and gunpowder.

Rucksacks containing visible fabric hanging out the open zippers were perched high on the shelves with unused boots beside them.

It appeared that a number of AQ soldiers had been staying in this very building but Poppy couldn't verify how many.

She didn't dare touch anything around her as she raised her rifle and aimed it at the stairs. Twirling on her foot, she tilted her head back and looked directly up the set of stairs.
