When the second floor had been completely and successfully cleared of armed cartel members, the adroit soldiers advanced into the colossal room with feather-light footsteps.

Poppy's chest rose and fell in a slow rhyme with her steady heartbeat while she nestled her semi-automatic rifle close to her vested chest as she scanned the room.

Only natural lighting from the sun was provided and poured into the windows that weren't drawn closed with curtains. One singular lamp stood tall on the opposite side of the room next to a fold-up table while a royal blue Quds Force flag was pinned to the cream-painted wall above the table for easy viewing.

A stained and worn leather sofa sat angled vaguely to the left while a black duffel bag lay on the floor by its side. A white porcelain mug had been accidentally knocked from the arm of the sofa in the chaos as lukewarm coffee was spilt across the hardwood floorboards.

Smooth paper envelopes were scattered on the carpet in a small pile on top of each other by the coffee table. A brown cardboard box with its flaps open caught her attention. Intrigued, the sergeant moved her feet and reached the table.

Crouching to the carpeted floor beneath the soles of her boots, her eyes took in the white crystalline powder that had been immaculately sorted into thin lines on the surface of the table.

She wondered how pure the cocaine actually was. From knowledge, Dargie knew that dealers liked to adulterate pure cocaine and mix the addicting powder with other harmful substances like fentanyl and lidocaine.

It saved them a lot of money by using cutting agents.

They held no consideration or regard for the people they sold to. As long as they got good money from what they were selling, they didn't care about what happened to the users that put it in their bodies.

From the plastic-wrapped block of cocaine on the table, she guessed at least one kilogram was sitting on that table alone. But when she darted her gaze to the brown cardboard box, she outstretched a hand and lightly yanked it out from underneath the table to investigate further.

She wasn't surprised to see more thick blocks of cocaine stacked causally on top of each other within. She was careful not to touch anything as she didn't want to be covered in it.

"They have kilograms upon kilograms of cocaine in here," Poppy informed earnestly while rising back to her feet and gesturing her hand to the box. "Hundreds of thousands worth."
