Four years ago...

"Kyle Garrick, get your ass on the dance floor, we're doing this!"

Thunderous laughter erupted around the group of soldiers at Poppy's words. She had noticeably had a few beers and it had finally clouded her mind with a joyous mood. She always radiated this bubbly jovial and ecstatic expression of emotion when having a few drinks.

When she consumed alcohol-which wasn't often-she was never violent or hostile to other people.

Her words flowed in euphoric ribbons and her laughter came from a buoyant place in her soul. Her smiles were brightly content as she soaked up every memory with her friends and locked them in a special treasure chest in her mind to reminisce about later on in the future.

She rose to her feet from where she was sitting comfortably and placed her palms on her thighs to pinch the fabric between her thumb and forefinger. With a small tug, she brought down and adjusted the material that wrapped her legs so her jumpsuit didn't look crinkled on her body.

Poppy seldom wore dresses, she preferred jumpsuits.

The only disadvantage of wearing a jumpsuit is when she had to pee. It exasperated her when she was sat on the toilet with her strapless bra-covered breasts on display for the locked door. The cold would nibble on her flesh and make her feel bare.

At least she wore a bra, she thought. Some women would be brave and bold and not wear one at all. Yes, she had been one of those women before but she showed no shame in it.

Bras were overrated anyways.

Grabbing her beer from the table, she raised the glass to her lips and took a long sip as she lifted an eyebrow at Kyle who chuckled up at her from across the table they were seated at.

"I'm a pretty great dancer," Gaz told her with a grin while rising to his feet. "All those Christmas parties in primary school prepared me for this day, Pops."

His words had her bursting out laughing. Beer rolled down her chin as a result, making her cough and take a napkin off Gavin who politely handed it to her with an amused beam.

She dabbed the remnants of the liquid from around her mouth and chin and smiled at Kyle.

"Oh, Christmas parties..." She placed her hands on her hips. "I learned my dance moves at the Halloween parties in primary school."
