"We'll have to jump here."

Machine gunfire had come rapidly at them along with launched RPGs. Craters had subsequently been birthed in the ground, tearing up blades of flourishing vigorous grass and bracken ferns. Corpses sprawled the ground while tepid blood trickled down crevices and apertures in the dirt which mother nature swallowed up.

Alejandro had lost a few of his loyal men and women while retaliating against the army. They hadn't anticipated the Mexican army to fire RPGs but the army had and it had resulted in numerous causalities.

Unfortunately, they couldn't take their bodies with them. They were in a position where if they stayed they were to fall to their premature deaths too. So, sadly they evacuated the area with beating hearts filled with pensive regret and sadness at leaving behind their close friends.

The soldiers narrowly descended the steep hill to stand behind the colonel. They stayed back from the vertiginous edges to not stumble over and plummet to their demise.

It would certainly not be an enjoyable experience to plunge over the edge and die from shattering every single bone in your body.

Poppy grimaced at the simple thought as she tightened her grip around her weapon.

"Can we make that?" Soap inquired, his tone unsure and timorous.

"Do or die, hermano," Alejandro responded nonchalantly in Spanish.

Poppy Dargie wasn't acrophobic. She didn't mind huge heights at all. After all, she had been climbing brick walls and lofty trees in her youth since she was a little girl and had been on roller coasters that didn't make her tremble in fear like a leaf.

She wasn't planning on dying anytime soon. Yes, she worked in a job that risked her life, but she was risking it so innocent people weren't killed. She had been doing this for years and she had learned a lot to stay alive.

She was vigilant and observant of her surroundings in territory that had armed enemies. Her training and skills had made her unparalleled but not invincible.

She was prowess, yes, but she was still entirely human. She still sustained injuries and still received nebula contusions when searing bullets pierced her bulletproof vest.

But she had to stay alive for her daughter.

She still had so many precious memories to make with her baby. She had to be there when she first went to nursery, primary school and high school. She wished to witness her go off to college or university and see her grow into the beautiful young woman she knew she would become.
