╰──────────╯Poppy found solace in the frigid zephyr that caressed her face and bare throat. She relished the feeling of her brown hair being tied up in a bun again. It was out of the way and would make it easier for her to observe everything around her. There was a melodious wind, one which still made little strands of her hair flow free like silk ribbons.
A vehement warmth spread across the surface of her skin when Simon placed his skeleton-gloved palm on her lower back. He tenderly guided her off the helicopter before reluctantly dropping his arm back to his side once she had stepped onto the smooth concrete ground of the roof below.
Her grip remained conspicuously tenacious on the two handles of the sniper drag bag as she strode confidently forward. As Ghost followed after the sergeant, the helicopter that dropped them off turned around and flew off. Through comms, the aviator of the bird confirmed that both Simon and Poppy had been deployed successfully.
Ambling her way across the rooftop, she took a glance over the edge to see the Arch Industries Tower across from where they were currently stationed. The duo were on a skyscraper, opposite the tower where Hassan and his AQ soldiers presently were. The skyscraper was a perfect foolproof observation post for armed overwatch.
While the lieutenant and sergeant were overwatching from afar, Captain Price and Sergeant MacTavish were flown in by helo to the roof of the Arch Tower. Another heli with a troop of marines was to enter the tower from the right side of the roof while Gaz was to infil with the marines by boat on the Chicago river and move up from the ground level.
Many streets had been cordoned off by the police who had been informed to lookout for a stolen container of weapons. They weren't told that the container housed an American-made ballistic missile.
Poppy let her green eyes trace the red neon glowing sign on the side of the Arch tower. It was so bright that the whole city of Chicago could see it. There were numerous other edifices around the busy city with different coloured neon signs. A multitude of civilians curiously hung around behind police vehicles that blocked the streets to have a peek at what was going on.
Frankly, if she saw a large number of police cars blocking off roads and officers cordoning off known streets, she would be nosy too to comprehend what was going on.
Bending over, she carefully placed the sniper drag bag down on the ground by her feet before crouching to her knees. Exhaling a serene breath from her lips, she could see her breath from the cold that consumed the air. Hearing Simon approaching her, she craned her neck and peered up at him. Taking the binoculars that were inside her utility pouch on her outer thigh, she took the piece of useful equipment and handed it over to him.
