Chapter 7

Previously on Chapter 6

"What's this?" He asked. I walk up to him and smiles softly. "This is your badge. A symbol to show that you are a part of the Boy Detectives' Club. Welcome to the club, Kobayashi~" I said. He stares at me for a few seconds and looks away with a 'tch.' I notice a faint blush appear on his cheeks again. I just let out a giggle. We have a new member to the club now. I look forward to work alongside him. This is going to be interesting~

Y/N P.O.V

I'm sitting inside the classroom, hand under my chin as I pay attention to the teacher explaining in front of us. I take notes every now and then as I listen. I wonder how Kobayashi doing. Now that he's part of the detectives' club.

There's a woman reporting that her boyfriend is up to something bad. So she wants us to make sure he didn't. I just sit across the woman in silence as she talks about her boyfriend and what he's planning on doing.

After the woman left, Nii-Chan is discussing what we should be doing about this mission. Nii-Chan chose Hanasaki and Kobayashi to do the investigation. I just sit by the couch, silently listening to them.

"Y/N..." Nii-Chan said. I blink my eyes and turn to look at him. "Yes?" I said. He gestures towards me to come closer to him. I stand in front of him, holding my hands behind my back.

"What is it, Nii-Chan?" I said. He smiles softly at me. "I'm gonna need you to supervise these two" he said. I tilt my head at what he said.

"Isn't Noro already watching them through Pippo-Chan?" I asked. He let out a chuckle at what I said. "Yeah, but just Noro isn't enough. We need someone with them. So these two won't cause any troubles... especially Hanasaki" he said.

"Hey!" Hanasaki protests behind me. I turn to look at him to see a pout on his face. I let out a chuckle and turn to look at Nii-Chan. "But why me though?" I asked.

"You have healing powers. So if they got hurt you can treat them" he said. I hum softly and nod my head. "Well.. if you insists. I don't have anything to do anyway. We should get going now, right?" I said. He smiles in satisfaction, and nod his head at what I said. I stand up and turns around. The others walks away, with me following behind them.

We're currently walking along the city's sideroad, trying to come up with a plan on how to approach this mission. I'm walking in between Hanasaki and Kobayashi.

Hanasaki have tried to approach the guy that woman assigned us to. But according to him, that guy didn't have it in him to do bad things. Even so, we can't be too sure. Looks can be deceiving.

"So, how do you know if someone have a bad plan, Hanasaki? It's not like we can just ask them about it" I said. Hanasaki let out a laugh at what I just said. He ruffles my hair which makes me swat his hand away with a sound protest.

I hear something shaking. I turn my head to see Kobayashi shaking a vending machine. "What're you doing, Kobayashi?" I asked. He turns to look at me. "I have to eat something or my body will start to suck anything" he said. I cringe at what he said. I can hear Hanasaki puking next to me.

"That's why! Just let me eat something!" Kobayashi said. I can hear the panic in his voice. I turn to look at Hanasaki and gestures him to help Kobayashi out. Hanasaki just smiles reassuringly at me and turn to look at Kobayashi with a grin.

"Oh don't worry... we'll get you where you can eat all you want" he said. Kobayashi looks interested. He even swallowed his saliva. I just smile softly and turn around, following Hanasaki who walks away without saying anything. I can hear light footsteps behind me, letting me know that Kobayashi is following me.

When we arrive at the place of the event. The guard didn't let us in without an invitation. Hanasaki is trying to negotiate with the guard. Out of the corner of my eyes, I can see Kobayashi walking away. I just tilt my head while staring at his retreating figure in confusion.

Nii-Chan told me to make sure neither of them cause trouble. While Hanasaki always cause troubles every now and then. But Nii-Chan's already knew that's just him. It's Kobayashi I'm worried for, since he still new to the club. So, it'll be wise if I just follow him for now. I glance at Hanasaki who's still arguing with the guard. Let's hope he didn't cause any trouble this time. I let out a sigh and chases after Kobayashi.

Turns out Kobayashi is following the scent of food, and lots of it. He starts to eat the food at a rapid speed. I just smile as he looks satisfied from all the food.

"That's the fastest way I've ever seen anyone eats" I said. Kobayashi jumps and turns to look at me. I let out a soft giggle while covering my lips. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you..." I said. I notice there's a faint blush on his cheek.

"There you two are... you think you can just get away and eat all you want?" Hanasaki said. Kobayashi just looks away from him and walks up to some soup. He scoops up some soup. He lightly blows on it and take a light sip, only to drink the whole thing.

But not long after he swallows the whole thing, he make a choking sound and the soup comes back out. It bounce a few times inside the forcefield before splattering around the floor.

"What just happened?" I asked. He turns to look at me. "There's something in this soup that I'm not suppose to eat" he said. I furrow my eyebrows at what he said. Then I remember, his forcefield only activates when something threaten his life. Which means the soup contains something dangerous, a poison. I turn to look at Hanasaki who seem to be thinking the same. He turns around and runs off. I sure hope he knows what he's doing.

A While Later

Turns out it was the woman's plan. She wants to frame her boyfriend, so she can get away with her own plan. Hanasaki is so close to beat her up. If it weren't for me to stop him. I've never seen him so angry before.

Now that the case is solved. We can head back to the office. Well, just me and Hanasaki. Kobayashi said he's tired, so he wants to go. I wave at him and he turns around, walking away.

"Say, Hanasaki... how do you convince Kobayashi to join the detectives' club?" I said. Hanasaki turns to look at me. "Kobayashi's only wish is to die. But the forcefield keeps protecting him from dangerous acts. So I gave him a promise that if he helps us out, I'll try to find a way to kill him" he said. My eyes widen what he said.

"He wants to die? Why??" I said. He just shakes his head, letting me know that he didn't know. I frown and turn to look forward. I remember the first time I met him. But I didn't know it was that serious, I just thought it was something he keeps doing to test out the extent of his power. So Kobayashi wants to die... but why?
