Chapter 9

He notices my gaze and turns to look at me. I look away, feeling my cheeks getting warm because he just caught me staring. Why did I even react this way though?

-A Party-

Y/N P.O.V

Hanasaki have been acting weirdly since morning. He looks so giddy and happy. The way he's acting gives me the impression that he's up to something. I wonder what he have in mind.

I turn my head to look at Hanasaki, who's sitting on his seat next to me. I notice that he's trying his best to not smile. I furrow my eyebrow in confusion. He's definitely up to something.

The bell rings, which lets us know that it's time for lunch break. I pack my stuff and sling my bag across my shoulder. I turn my head to see Hanasaki is still in his seat, seemingly waiting for me.

"Okay... what's up with you? Can you stop smiling? It's starting to creep me out" I said. He pouted at me. He stands up and ruffles my hair. I let out a sound of protest as I swat his hand away. "So, what's going on with you. Why do you act so giddy and excited since morning?" I asked. He just chuckles at me.

"Oh, I didn't know it was a crime to act happy..." he said, crossing his arms across his chest. I just cross my arms as well. "It's not a crime... but you're acting weird. Like you're up to something" I said. Hanasaki let out a gasp, placing a hand on his chest as he acted offended.

"How cruel! How could you think that way towards your own best friend??" He said, faking a hurt tone. I just give him a straight face. "What did you just said? Best friend? Since when?" I said. He let out a gasp as he drops on his dramatically.

"How cruel..." he whined. I just let out a laugh and gently pat his shoulder. "I'm just kidding. But be serious for once. What are you planning?" I said. He just grins and stands up.

He gestures me to lean closer to him. I furrow my eyebrow in confusion, but did as told. He whispers something to my ear which makes my eyes widened and a wide grin appear on my lips.

"Now I get why you're so happy all day!" I said. He nods his head, grinning excitedly at me. I loop my arm around his. "Come on then! We don't wanna be late!!" I said, as I start to pull him along with me. He let out a yelp.

"Are you seriously a girl??" He said. I just let out a laugh and keeps pulling him along. He laughs along with me as he finally manage to keep up. I'm really excited!

We have arrived at Nii-Chan's office. Everything are ready, we just have to wait for Hanasaki to get him here. I sure hope he's going to like this surprise. I feel my heart swelling in excitement at the thought of Kobayashi smiling.

The door to the lift opens, revealing the guy we've all been waiting for. "SURPRISE!!" Everyone yelled out. Kobayashi looks around in confusion. "What's going on?" He asked.

Hanasaki turns to look at him and grin. "We have decided to declare today as your birthday!" He said. Kobayashi just gives him a look of distaste. "Tch... don't go deciding things for me" he said. I just walk up him and smiles.

"Oh come on, Kobayashi. You don't remember your own birthday. What's wrong with deciding today as your birthday. Everyone should be happy... they get to live another day" I said. He just gives me a look. I frown when I realize Kobayashi's only wish is to die. As much as it hurts me for some reason. But I just give him a smile still.

In the end, we manage to get Kobayashi to party with us. I can see a small smile on his face. The sight makes my heart skips a beat. I place my hand on my chest, wondering why I'm reacting this way. I shake my head and just focus on the party, enjoying our time together as a team/family.

I glance at Hanasaki and grin mischievously. I grab a plate and put some whip cream on it... lots of it. "Oh Hanasaki~" I said, in a sing-sang voice. Hanasaki stops what he's doing and turn to look at me.

"Yeah? What- AHHHH!!!!" He screamed as the plate of whip cream got on his face. When the plate falls off from his face, revealing his cream covered face. I clutch onto my stomach as I burst out laughing while pointing a finger at Hanasaki's face.

"Y/N! How could you do this to me?!" He yelled out. I stop laughing and turn to look at him. He's glaring at me, before smirking. My eyes widened seeing his glare. I instantly know that he's plotting a revenge after my little prank.

"Uhh... gotta run!" I said, scrambling up to my feet and quickly dash off. I can hear his scream behind me. "Agh!! Get back here you!!" He yelled. I try my best to run as fast as I can to avoid getting attack by Hanasaki.

He jumps on me and starts rubbing his face against mine, causing my face to get covered in whip cream as well. "Ahh! Stop!!" I yelled, trying to push him off me. Everyone else burst out laughing at our battle.

Kobayashi P.O.V

I watch as Y/N and Hanasaki fools around with each other. The two of them seem so close. It's like they've known each other all their life. That thought alone brought pain in my chest, for some reason.

I lift my hand, placing the palm of my hand against my chest. Why am I feeling this way every time I see Y/N being so close to Hanasaki? Why do I feel so bothered by the sight of Y/N's smile when it's not directed to me? Why do I want Y/N to just keep her attention on me?
