"My client is prepared to offer a compromise of joint custody and adoption in the paternal degree."
Ellarose's head whipped towards their lawyers desk phone as William Schuester's lawyer spoke up and offered them a 'compromise' to their legal battle. She shared a look with Destiny, horrified at the thought to Grace having to live between houses and be adopted by her sperm donor.
Who for all she knew, was into pedophilia with how obsessed he was over her daughter.
"Absolutely not!" Ella whispered, as their lawyer, Graham Hamilton, nodded his head in agreement.
"That is out of the question!" Destiny growled, pacing behind her wife's chair as they absorbed the intensity of the situation. She spun back around and jabbed her finger into her chest. "Grace is my daughter. Not his. If anyone is adopting her, it will be me!"
"Destiny, we've been over this." Graham sighed, sending her an apologetic smile. "There are legal reasons you've been declined."
"I was young! I was a teenager!"
"We need to counter and hope they settle. They have no case besides getting a rise and causing Grace to become uncomfortable."
Graham unmuted the phone once Destiny finished speaking, looking over his notes on the desk as he thought through an appropriate response.
"Now, Jessica, you know that is absurd." He said, chuckling at the audacity the woman had to offer such a thing. "Gracelynn has no father listed on her birth certificate and we are in the process of confirming that he has not signed an acknowledgement paper when she was born stating he is the father. He has no rights."
"My client states that he was unaware of an opportunity given to prove he was genetically the child's biological father. Before this goes to court, we would like to request a paternal examination of confirmation. You are required to give us at least that, as she is under the age of reason."
"Hold please." Graham quickly hits the mute button as Ella practically screams across his office.
"Is he serious? I gave him time after time after time! I tried from the day I knew I was pregnant to when Grace was six months old to get him to even acknowledge her existence, let alone sign a damn paper!" The woman cried out desperately. "We want her to have a choice to interact with him when she's eighteen."
