Lilith didn't understand what was happening.

One minute, she was watching movies with her Aunt Raegan in her Mommy's apartment, and the next, she was dragged into the loud building watching her aunts and uncles help keep Maya and Rachel apart.

Lilith watched the group argue from the chair Raegan placed her in until her Mommas could arrive. She turned her head and looked through the different crying or anxious individuals around the room. Few were asleep and some were reading books or scrolling through their phone. She turned toward the big doors when she noticed a doctor walk through, catching a glimpse at a chaotic emergency room.

"Daddy?" Lilith whined, leaning in the chair to see who was being wheeled down the hallway.

She glanced at Raegan a few times before making the decision to slip out of her chair, running toward the large doors.

The little girl tilted her head when she heard the loud beeping her Daddy and Mommy once made. Lilith ducked behind a nurse and ran as quickly as she could toward the rhythmic beeping.

"Daddy?" Lilith whispered, leaning in the door of one of the rooms.

She stepped back when the doctors began yelling, pushing the bed the a woman laid in out of the room. Her eyes followed the doctors as they jumped their hands up and down on the sleeping woman's chest, then to the puddle of red paint on the floor.

You can paint.

Lilith giggled and jumped into the room, kneeling down and sticking her hands in the paint, "Art!"

She turned to the glass wall and began painting with her fingers, unfazed by the warmth of the paint. Lilith dipped her hands in the puddle repeatedly and drew around on the wall.

"One, two, three." Lilith mumbled to herself as she practiced her numbers. "Four, six, seven, nine, eleven!"

She stepped back and frowned deeply at the spaces her numbers left. Lilith reached out and painted a five inside the space she left, but quickly whined and smeared it. She whimpered and stepped back when the five wasn't completely gone, slipping and falling into the red paint with a loud sploosh under her body.
