"Santana, what have I told you about skipping school?" Maribel pointed a finger at her daughter when she noticed the teenager in her mother-in-law's living room as she walked through the front door.

"My Cheerio period is free and Miss Tokin is out with the flu." Santana replied, turning her head and smirking a bit when her mother rolled her eyes, before returning back to painting her nails.

"Oh, leave her alone, Maribel." Alma scoffed, waving the woman off.

Maribel walked further into the living room and placed down the groceries her husband had sent her out to get for Alma on the table in the dining room. She smiled when she noticed the little curly haired boy in Santana's old highchair from the basement.

"I didn't know we had company. Hola, niño pequeño." Maribel smiled down at the boy when he finally noticed her walking towards the two girls. She chuckled when she noticed Alma holding his hand and making small brushes with one of Santana's cousin's child nail polish. "Alma, are you doing his nails? Never thought I'd see the day."

"Only because he seemed sad that we had not included him in Santana's nails." Alma quickly explained, side eyeing Santana a few times as she painted the glittery holographic paint on the little boy's tiny nails. "We picked a manly color. Lagoon Blue. For men. Not for...otras cosas."

"I think all the colors are perfecta, Niñito." Maribel leaned down and kissed Lucifer's head, before gently using her nails to move his curls to see his cochlear impant receivers. "Did Grace paint these too? I need her to help me with your Papi and my anniversary gift. I love her art work."

"Uhh, no. It's a skin she ordered, but I'll ask her." Santana explained, taking a quick look towards the Timon and Pumba skins on his receivers. "Al pequeño rey le gustan los leones."

"Un rey de su propio orgullo, ¿eh?" Maribel kneeled down and smiled at the boy, who reached out and poked at her necklace with the hand that wasn't being painted. "Papito likes bling. Santana was the same way, rey."

"Be Bao." Lucifer babbled incoherently, turning and looking at Alma curiously as she blew lightly on his finger nails. "Ah! Bana, booo, doba."

"Why can his sister speak, but not him? Is he stupid?"Alma asked, holding his hand to let the paint dry before he can smear it.

"Alma!" Maribel shot her mother in law an unimpressed look, kissing Lucifer's head. "Just because he can't talk does not mean he doesn't hear you. Isabella told you he's a smart boy."

"Sí. Sí. I know." Alma nodded, before turning to her granddaughter. "You should go make friends with Gracia, her Abuela tells me she's very lost right now."
