Help Is Coming

Alexa's POV
??? : Lexi. Sweetie wake up. Open your eyes.

My eyes slowly open at the soft voice. I look up and see my mom. She has my head on her legs and slowly strokes my hair.

Alexa: M-mom?

Riley: Yeah...

Alexa: How are you... What are you doing here?

Riley: I don't know if you noticed it but we're in your head right now sweetie.

Alexa: Why are you in my head?

Riley: To guide you. I know you're thinking you should give up, but your friends need you. Your family needs you.

Alexa : No. They don't need me. They have forgotten about me.

Riley: What would made you think that way?

Alexa: I hurt them. All of them. Now Gabe is going after them.

Riley: And why's that?

Alexa: Cause he finally found them. They're here. At Chicago.

Riley: Really? And why do you think they're at Chicago? To visit the city? How do you think they're free to come to the US? The government just let them?

Alexa: You mean that...?

Riley: I mean that the truth has been revealed and you are all free to go. Your friends are here cause you haven't gone back. They are all worried about you. And they will find you. I know it. Just don't give up on hope. Don't give up on them. Help is coming.

I smile at these words and then my mom disappears leaving me alone in that room.

She's right. I can't give up. Now that Gabe is gone it's my time to act. I slowly get up, feeling the pain all over my body. I hold my right hand since Gabe broke it before and head to the door. Locked. Of course. There might be someone out there, so I just yell with the voice I have left.

Alexa: Help! Please help me!

Someone appears and I look at him through the bars.

??? :What do you want?

Alexa: I don't feel so well.

He frowns.

Alexa: My stomach...

I start coughing and I hold my stomach. I take a few steps back and the guard seems a bit worried. To make it believable, I bite my tongue so hard so I get some blood in my mouth. I keep coughing and I cover my mouth with my hand, so when I move it away, there's blood on it.

The guard quickly opens the door, mumbling something through his teeth, although I can recognize some words.

???... Finds out... Dead.

He looks at my face while I have almost closed eyes.

??? : Where do you feel the pain.

I show him with my hand where it hurts.

Alexa: Do-down here.

He lowers his head to see and once he does, with my left hand, I punch him so hard, he falls behind. I take the keys and get out the room, closing the door behind me. He gets up and grabs the bars.

??? : You bitch! When I get out of here I'll kill you! You won't manage to get far. Gabe will be here any second and you'll be dead!!

I just ignore him and run away. All I can think of, is to find an exit, quickly. Before Gabe comes back.

I walk around the building but when I hear footsteps, I quickly open a door and see some stairs, leading up. I follow them and end up on the roof. Rain is falling, wiping the blood off my body. I look around and I see a car driving fast to the building. The driver gets out.

Gabe.

He's back. I have to act fast. When he gets close to the entrance, he starts yelling something to his guys. I try to listen closer but I they're not very clear through the heavy rain.

Gabe:... After me.... Alexa... End...

I take a few steps back, thinking of what to do. I look around and lucky me, I see a ladder, leading to the ground. I rush over there and slowly get down the ladder. I try to use both hands but since the one is broken, it's hard.

Once I get to the ground, I check around to see if anyone has spotted me.

After I make sure no one has seen me, I start taking the road to freedom. My happiness doesn't last long, cause a car appears behind me. I turn around to see through the rain, the driver and i see that it's Gabe behind the wheel. How could he know? Did he see me? Did someone told him i'd escaped and he knew where i would go? 

I just start running as fast as i can. But it's not easy cause all of the pain. The car revs and once he pushes the gas, i hear it coming towards me, fast. I just turn around and soften the hit as i jump over the front of the car with all the strength i have left. 

My body rolls over the car and i fall down, coughing from the pain. The car stops a few meters away from me and Gabe walks out. He walks towards me and i notice he's holding a gun in his hands.

Gabe: I really didn't want it to end up this way. I don't want to kill you Alexa...

Alexa: Yeah, that's why you did all those things.

Gabe:I did that cause i wanted to know where Dom was. You know that...

Alexa:Yeah, and that is a very reasonable explanation.

I say as i try to get up, but the gun pointing my head, stops me.

Gabe: For me it is. And now, i don't need you anymore, so i guess this is a goodbye.

He takes a few steps back and i try to move my body away from him, but i know it's pointless cause i can't outrun a gun. He loads the gun and is ready to pull the trigger, but suddenly, a car appears out of nowhere and hits him. Gabe's body falls on the wall, dead.

Alexa: Goodbye.

Is all i say relieved. I get up and look at the car. The driver's door opens and i let out a sigh of relief and happiness. 

I try to run in Dom's arms but all i do is bounce. Dom grabs me, right before i fall and i hug him tight. My tears fall on his shirt as we both lower on the ground hugging. I can hear through the rain, his voice.

Dom:You'll be ok now. You're fine. No more pain. 

I start sobbing as i can't believe i'm still alive and once we seperate, he cups my face and looks at me.

Dom:What did he do to you?

I start crying more when he says that and i look at the ground.

Dom:Hey, hey. Those tears don't fit your beauty.

I smile at the sentence and look at him. 

Dom:How about we go home?

I nod as i dream of that. I try to stand up but the pain doesn't let me. He picks me up, bridal style and places me on the passenger's seat, while we hear the police sirens heading our way.
