Leave it to Kelly to forget the most basic things for a Thanksgiving dinner. I was surprised she remembered the turkey. I thought I was the scatter-minded one, but I guess it runs in the family. The most amazing part of this day was seeing Kelly and Lukas work together in the kitchen. They were incredibly organized, even if they'd only just met, they worked in perfect sync with each other while she prepared the traditional Thanksgiving meals and he baked a cake for Granny's birthday.

Everything was almost ready, but Kelly had just told me she forgot something she needed for the gravy, so I had to run to the store. "Can't you just do without?" I complained.

"Of course, not." She shot me a glare – because she gets very serious about her cooking.

"Kev is already in town, he can-"

"He needs to keep an eye on Granny to make sure she doesn't come back early." My sister rolled her eyes. "The rest of the family will arrive here in about two hours. I need those ingredients now."

I raised my hands in surrender. "Fine, fine, I'll go ..." I huffed, "man, you're really turning into mom ..." I muttered, grabbing my bag.

"What was that?" Kelly shouted.

"Nothing, nothing, Hera ..."

"How dare you!"

I laughed. "I dare because it's true."

Kelly shot me a murderous glare, then turned to my boyfriend, who'd just now pulled a marvelous looking cake out of the oven. "Lukas, you should take your girlfriend away from my knives before I accidentally throw one at her." My sister scoffed.

I rolled my eyes, knowing she was touchy about the subject, but also aware she was being sarcastic. Nevertheless, I was glad to get my boyfriend back after having spent most of the day without him. "See you later, Hera!" I teased as we walked out of the kitchen.

"You are a dead woman, Tara Baker!" Kelly shouted after me, furious, but I merely laughed as I put on my coat.

"She hates being reminded how much she takes after our mother." I explained, still laughing.

Lukas laughed with me. "I noticed ... well, she is quite ... bossy." He mused as we got out of the house.

"Uh, never say that to her, she'll skin you alive." I laughed, getting in the car. Lately I find myself smiling and laughing a lot more than I ever have, which feels weird, yet ... right.

🔥🔥🔥

"That's the fifth glare I get." I mused, as we passed a girl in her early twenties by the wine aisle. "I don't even know them."

"You sure you're not paranoid?" Lukas joked, moving from my side just to take a closer look at the wine stand, since it was one of the things Kelly asked me to get. I know nothing about wines, but thankfully Lukas does.

"Not at all," I shook my head, "it's the same thing every time ... they see you, they smile, they call your name, then they see me ... and boom, I get mentally stabbed."

He grimaced a bit. "I wanna say I don't know them, but ..."

"Yeah, I know, manwhore past."

"Hey ..." he faked an offended look, bringing a hand to his heart, "that hurts."

I shrugged. "Truth hurts." I wrinkled my nose at him, making a funny face he laughed at. "I don't even wanna know how many, to be honest."

"Not as many as you probably think." He went back to looking at wine bottles. "But ... a lot nevertheless, I won't deny it."
