"Yes!" I exclaimed out loud, grinning.

"What is it?" Lukas wondered, flipping pancakes.

"It's Leo, says he can organize a meeting with his sister." I replied while typing a positive reply. I really thought he'd forget about it, yet only a day and a half later, he got back to me.

"I still don't get why didn't he simply give you her number."

"What difference does it make?" I chuckled. "She's a big name in this field. Meeting her means getting a lot more than just materials for my thesis." I explained, excited, as I left my phone on the island. "It means I can ask her so many questions, she could help me take the right steps." I took a sip of my tea. "Hell, she might even help me get an internship next summer, after graduation."

"That's awesome, baby." Lukas smiled, genuinely glad, handing me a plate of banana pancakes. He stroked the back of my neck as he sat down. "All your hard work is paying off."

I shook my head. "She wants to meet me first, see what I'm all about. Only once she's sure it's worth the trouble, she will actually get involved."

"Sounds quite haughty." Lukas frowned.

We both dug in the pancakes, because yes, he finally cracked the code somehow: eating the food he cooks doesn't make me feel nauseous all morning. It actually gives me more energies to face the long day ahead. "It's fair," I went on once I'd swallowed my bite, "if she has to stick her neck out for me, she should first of all know if it's worth it."

"So, she wants to be pretty much a mentor."

"Kind of, yeah, or at least that's what I'm hoping for," I nodded, eating some more pancakes. "My God, what did you put into this? It's so good!"

Lukas chuckled. "I'm glad you like it." He said with a gentle smile. "And I'm glad things are looking up for you."

I blushed a little, because in the middle of my excitement, I hadn't realized I've been talking about nothing else for the past two days. He was probably sick of hearing me. "Thanks." I mumbled, going back to the pancakes. "And ... sorry for bursting your eardrums with it." I kept my eyes on the plate. I get excited with some things I really love and when I do, I just go on talking about them and most people get bored. I usually get cut off, but when I don't, it ends in endless boredom for people.

"Are you kidding?" Lukas grinned, "I'm happy for you." He leaned in, and gently stroked my cheek with his fingers, only to then place a small kiss on my forehead. "And ... your face lights up when you talk about this stuff." He claimed as he pulled back. "You look gorgeous."

I know he meant well, but I felt such a tight knot in my stomach at his words, all the alarms setting off in my head at the same time. It was cozy, too cozy. I don't know whether it was the fact that my head was 90% on this chance I'm being given, but the past two days were relaxed, so relaxed that I didn't even argue when Lukas did things like hugging me and kissing me at random, calling me baby all the time in a gentler way. Only right now, this exact moment, one single thought broke through our peace: he's treating you like a girlfriend, not a fuck buddy.

I mean, yes, he's always so sexy, so sultry, seductive, but then he does these cute things, like even earlier, when he kissed my cheek. Then again, I might just be reading too much into it, overthinking as usual. Maybe he just doesn't want me to feel used, and we're actually becoming friends more than just roommates that have sex together.

We even talk about totally unsexy things such as our careers, our prospects, our projects. Stuff you'd discuss with a friend, or worse, your partner. Well, we don't have conversations, he mostly asks me questions of that sort, or simply listens whenever I go off on my rants about politics and other serious topics.
