Okay, I was officially worried. It's true that he said he wouldn't sleep here, but he didn't come back for his keys or his wallet either, so where did he go? Did something happen to him?
I'll admit I barely slept. Every little noise woke me up and made me check the living room or his room, to see if Lukas was back, which, of course, was stupid, because how would he get in without keys?
I checked my phone the moment I woke up, hoping that maybe Lukas had found a way to contact me or had even only thought he should inform me of his whereabouts, but nothing.
All I got were messages from Sean telling me he wouldn't be in class today – he went to see his family for the weekend and decided to stay one more day. I was actually glad about that, because I haven't found the courage to cancel our date yet.
Kelly wrote me, too, to show me the wedding dress she finally chose, and to remind me that I'm needed in Newark next week to start trying on bridesmaid dresses. That was even better news, because as much as I hate shopping, it meant I had to tell Sean I would be busy in the weekend. I shouldn't delay the inevitable, I know, but I just couldn't find the courage to say anything.
I closed the messaging app and opened Instagram for the first time in weeks if not months, just to use it as a distraction. Well, okay, maybe I wanted to see if Lukas had been tagged in a picture or posted something that would give me a clue as to where he was.
Much to my dismay, I saw photos of myself from the Halloween party. How did they even find me? They were mostly all horrible pictures, which is not surprising, since me and cameras don't get along well, but there was a cute one that came out nicely.
Lukas was tagged on it, too. It was just the two of us laughing together, I can't even remember about what. It was posted by Leo. It was up close, I was completely distracted, not looking at the camera at all. That was probably the only reason why I looked somewhat decent in it.
But the real focus of the picture was, obviously, Lukas. Not that Leo concentrated on him in particular, but Lukas looked so gorgeous in in it, with that cheerful grin of his that would take anybody's breath away. Anybody looking at the photo would see him and nothing else.
When I checked Instagram dms, I found Kelly and her 'gasps in Spanish' gif, followed by an all caps: OMG WHO IS THIS HUNK? The next message was from her fiancée, asking the same thing, just not with the same excitement. Actually, the tone of Kevin's text was inquisitory.
The third one was from Sean: Thor dressed as Superman is the crossover of the century. That made me laugh.
Then I frowned when I saw a fourth message, coming from a completely different person. Sheila. Sheila actually texted me. Same as all the other messages, hers was from Friday, I obviously hadn't seen it because I never check social media, but it didn't say much, just a simple how are you, T?
It's not out of character for her, to just act like nothing, but after three months of utter silence, I would expect at least an explanation or something. A random how are you is nothing even for my super-low standards. Then again, I can't exactly play innocent. I did spend this past month mostly having sex with the one guy she considers her ex.
I should have told her a long time ago. I wonder if she saw the picture. She probably did, she obviously follows his account. Gosh, maybe she wrote me to ask for an explanation, I wouldn't blame her if she was mad.
I should point out that we're just friends and roommates, but that would be a lie. Would acting like nothing work? Maybe she didn't see the picture. Nah, she didn't see it. She would have said something, but she didn't.
