"You should get some rest." Lukas repeated for the billionth time, and for the billionth time I rolled my eyes.

"I'm fine." In order to avoid him seeing me struggle to get out of the car, I waited for him to get off first. Of course, I knew he'd watch me closely, so I pretended to be scrolling through my phone. I guess he's right, in my conditions I should take it easy, especially given the extra hassle I went through to make sure I graduated in time. Even my professor thought I was crazy, but I had no other choice.

While Lukas was grabbing grocery bags from the trunk, I got out of the car at the best of my chances. I reached him, obviously gaining his dirty look when I went to grab at least two of the lightest bags. "I'm serious." He grumbled.

"Me too." I stuck out my tongue to him and headed into the building without waiting for him. I only stopped by the elevator.

"Why do you have to always be so stubborn?" He sighed heavily, as usual.

"Because I'm pregnant, Lukas, not invalid." I rolled my eyes.

"Nine months pregnant." He pointed out. "Nine freaking months. You could go into labor any minute."

"And we're ready for it, aren't we?" I grinned as we got into the elevator. "We've prepared for this moment many times, everything is ready."

"Come on, baby, you know these things rarely go as planned." Lukas mentioned. "Why can't you simply spend a few days relaxing in bed? Even Dr. Wang said you should."

"I keep telling you, I'm fine." I laughed. "Now, if only she decided to get this over with, I'd feel even better." I grimaced, resting against the wall. The one thing I never realized about pregnancies is that they don't always last precisely 9 months. Sometimes your child decides she needs extra few days in the womb, to prepare for the ugly world outside.

I know I needed quite a few days to get used to the idea of bringing a human being into this world. Although, it shouldn't have really come as a surprise. I mean, what do you expect when you spend an entire weekend in bed with no birth control method whatsoever? I did freak out at first, same as Lukas, and we even considered abortion or adoption, but in the end, we decided we could make it. We simply had to rework out plans for the next few years.

"Well, maybe she would feel keener on coming out if she wasn't tossed and turned around all the time." Lukas grumbled, getting out of the elevator once we'd reached our floor. In less than a year my life has changed a lot, but the same apartment remained a constant.

"Your dad called." I mentioned, just to change subject. Incredibly, when I told Lukas about my meeting with Danielle Ingram and the reasons for her dinners with his father, my fiancé didn't take it too bad. Danielle and I have been working hard to patch things up between the two men.

I'll admit that the pregnancy came in handy in that sense, because the idea of becoming a grandpa softened Larry a bit. Well, ok, sure, I needed to hammer in his head one simple prospect: if you don't show up for your son now, you'll lose not just him, but your granddaughter, because there's no way Lukas will allow you to see her, and there will be nothing I can do about it.

"What did he want?" My fiancé grumbled as we headed to our apartment – him having to slow down to match my very pregnant pace.

"Well, obviously, he asked about her," I pointed at my huge belly, "then he wanted to know how come you didn't pick up his call this morning." The most exhausting part of being the future Mrs. Bennet is having to play referee between Bennet senior and Bennet junior, but at the very least Larry shows effort.

I couldn't say the same about my parents. When I told her about the pregnancy, my mother merely scoffed and said: I knew you'd get knocked up out of wedlock just to embarrass me.
