A.N: this is my first time ever attempting to write fanfiction. English isn't my first language so if you see any grammatical errors please let me know :) I will try to update this story at least twice a week.

"FUCK!" you cussed out as the last operator knocked you out, losing the now 3rd match of the day. You have been holed up in your room for the past few hours trying to let out some steam by playing, but instead, you have been getting even angrier by the continuously lost games.

"just a bad day,"  You thought to yourself. It was indeed a bad day, you have been searching for a job ever since you graduated almost a year ago, but to no avail. They all either require experience or act like they will accept you, only to ghost you later on. It didn't help that your parents haven't been that understanding either.
"Just keep looking"
"even a kid would have something by now"
"If I had known you'd end up like this, I would've never sent you in the first place"
"so useless"

And it kept on dragging on, it's not like you wanted to end up like this. Hell, there's hardly anyone who would want to end up like this voluntarily. It's just not as easy as it was back in their time when their university degrees were actually worth something.

Today was one of the days where you couldn't handle their remarks and it ended with an argument that lead you to lock yourself in your room. Sighing in defeat, you decided to take a break from the game, and scroll through your phone instead.

"ANNND IN TODAY'S THEORY WE ARE GOING TO DISCUSS THE WORLD END AND SHIFTING THEORY...." You scrolled before the commentator could even finish, world end theory? Shifting theory? What a load of bullshit for views, these types of videos have been gaining so much popularity over the last couple of months and you couldn't understand why. Even after watching some of them, it was extremely unlikely that the world is gonna end anytime soon, at least not in the near future anyways, so why were they gaining popularity?

As you were lost in your thoughts, your notification rang, bringing you back from your thoughts. It was a text from one of your friends.

(bff/n): aye bestie, how are you doinggg?

(you): heyo, I'm doing good, and you? How have you been?

(bff/n): I'm super great, anyways are you free tomorrow ???

(you): I am free yea, why? what's up?

(bff/n): let's meet up tomorrow then, to catch up and hang out, I haven't seen you in sooo long, annnnd I have a lot of beef to spill

(you): hoho count me in, where and when do u wanna meet then?

(bff/n): how about at 3? I'll pick you up and we could go to the beach. The weather has been really nice lately

(you): okay bet, I'll see you tomorrow then <33

(bff/n): cya bestieee <333

You sat your phone down, now smiling. It's at moments like this that you are reminded that there is someone out there that got your back. You have known (bff/n) since middle school, and even if you go months without talking to each other, you know you still have each other's back.

You decided to play COD some more as it was still too early to go to sleep. This time you went into campaign mode, as you haven't played it yet. Your online friend had been nagging you to play with them ever since you got the game, so you never got the chance to experience the campaign mode yet.

10 minutes in, and you were already obsessed with the cinematic scenes, especially since your favourite character, Ghost, had made his appearance. He had been your favourite since the original mw2, and you only bought the campaign because of him. 10 minutes in and you could already tell that the game was going to be a bomb.

Hours passed, and you watched as Graves turned on Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros, before a loud bang snapped your attention back to your surroundings. Just as you began to get up from your chair, a loud noise deafened you, while the light from your screen started to grow brighter and brighter until it completely blinded you. A statistical noise took over your brain, and you passed out.
