Soap cursed under his breath as he proceeded to remove the stickers, not believing that he became the laughingstock of the base because of a plastic toy and a few stickers.
"I genuinely didn't expect that from you two, especially you Ghost. You got me good" he said as he threw the last sticker in the trash. You managed to stop laughing but the grin was still obvious.
"You started it, what did you expect?" you raised an eyebrow at him.
"I definitely didn't think you would prank me back, maybe yell at me or something, but not prank me" he exclaimed. Ghost cleared his throat.
"Choices have consequences" Even if he was masked, you could tell he was smirking, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Yeah, yeah. I will get back at you two later, and then you will regret doing this to me" he announced. Fake evil laughing with both his hands raised.
"Anyways, let's drop it and get to the movie. How do you feel about horror?" he asked.
"Nah, I have seen enough horror in the last few missions to last me a lifetime, I will pass," you responded. It was true after all, that automated gigantic man who seemed to enjoy torturing people is going to be the core of your nightmares for at least a few years to come.
"Well, what do you want to watch then?"
"I don't know, you pick"
He gave you an annoyed look, going through the dozens of movies he had to find a good one.
They all seemed fairly popular, but you couldn't recognize any of them,
"maybe because it's not my universe?" you thought to yourself as Soap finally picked one that was apparently action.
"Nice, what is it about?" you asked.
"I don't know, that's my first time watching it too" he grinned.
The movie was 2 hours long, talking about a group of friends who were being chased away by people for having different opinions than that of the king. As the movie starts with them running and hiding in a warehouse, they come across a shattered mirror, but the mirror isn't showing their reflections. Stunned by this, one of them tries to touch the mirror only to be sent to an unknown place. As he tries to navigate his way through the new area, he comes across a city, but the plot twist is that all people are shadows. They can't see him the same way he can see them. The man continues trying to talk to people to no avail until he eventually meets his own shadow. A younger version of himself, and he follows his shadow around to find out that his shadow is being abused by other shadows and so on. The movie then shows how every single member of the group was in a similar situation, and to get out they had to save their shadows. The movie was good, but the ending was open, and there was no news about a second season whatsoever.
"That was good! It's kind of like your situation right?" Soap exclaimed.
"Maybe in a way? But Nah I don't think so," you replied.
"Anyways it's getting late, and I need to go take my pills" you mumbled as you started to get up. Ghost got up from your side and went to grab your clutches, you had forgotten he was even there with how quiet he was the entire time.
"Thanks for the movie Soap, it was entertaining," you smiled at him as you took your clutches from Ghost.
"Why, of course, Squirrel, anytime" he bowed jokingly.
You exited his room, Ghost still walking by your side.
"So what do you think about the movie?" you broke the silence."It was good," was all what he responded with.
"Typical Simon" you sighed to yourself as you finally made it to your room. You turned around to face him.
"Well, thanks for walking me to my room. I'll see you tomorrow." you tried to close the door but he put his hand forward to prevent you from closing it.
"Wait, hold out your hand," you were puzzled by this, but held out your hand nonetheless. He put something in your palm before turning around and leaving. You looked at your palm, and in the middle sat an identical Phoenix sculpture to the one you lost. You smiled to yourself as you closed the door, making sure to lock it so that Soap won't prank you.
You sat the sculpture next to its siblings and went to take your pills, before going to bed. Thinking about the movie you watched, was it possible that there was another you in this universe that you had to save somehow? How were you supposed to find yourself anyways? You tried to push the thoughts back as it was supposedly just a movie. If there was any sense of truthfulness behind it, you had to go meet with the scriptwriters themselves to ask. You let out a deep sigh as you closed your eyes, slowly falling into a deep slumber.
