It was around 4 pm when the helicopter landed at a base nearby their next mission's location. Laswell was already there waiting for the group to explain their next plan.
As for you, you were escorted by an agent after Laswell learned about your situation. You were to be taken to a hospital specifically for military personnel to do the tests and then to be held in their base until the results came back.
The mission was successful and Hassan was neutralized on-site. It didn't take long for the team to get back to the base after their victory. Unfortunately, Shepherd had already fled, so they had to find clues in his office in order to get leads on his whereabouts.
Laswell was understandably suspicious of you as well. After landing, you were searched and examined, and they took your broken phone before sending you away.
You sighed as you looked out of the window, it's been 3 days since you did the tests. The doctor said it would take 3 to 5 days for the results to come back, and there was no news whatsoever from 141. Not that you expected anything, even if you knew everything about them, to them you were a complete stranger, a suspicious one to add the cherry on top.
You darted your eyes toward the door as it was swung open, 3 people entered the room and quickly closed the door behind them. Laswell beckoned for you to sit on the chair facing the table that was in the middle of the room. Price was on her left side while Ghost was on her right. She pulled out your phone and handed it back to you. The screen was still shattered.
"I got a bad feeling from this," you thought to yourself as you tried to turn it on to no avail. The three of them exchanged looks, with Laswell being the one who broke the silence.
"That phone of yours. Where did you get it?" She questioned calmly.
"Probably from a phone shop... Why though?" you gave a vague answer, not because you wanted to, but because you couldn't remember from where exactly you got it.
"Because the name of the company on this phone doesn't exist. I also couldn't find anything to charge it with, nor did anyone know how to fix it. So how did you get it? I need a clear answer." The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. If you told her the truth, she most likely won't believe you. But there was no lying in this situation, even if you wanted to, you couldn't.
You kept eye contact with Laswell as you pondered over what to say. Just as you were about to cook up some lie, someone knocked on the door, and Price opened it.
The person handed Price a file, the file that had your results. It was the moment of truth, Price walked back to the table and sat down, handing Laswell the file. She ripped it open and started going over it. As soon as she was done, she gave you an unexplainable look as she passed the file to you to check for yourself.
It was empty. There was nothing, no relatives, no ancestors, no nothing. It was like you didn't exist at all.
"Care to explain? I'm certain you know something." this time, it was Ghost who broke the silence.
"You may not like what I have to say, and you may not believe me either," you said, looking down at the file.
"We will decide that when you are done talking," Laswell said.
"The reason why the file is empty is probably because I don't belong to this universe. I know this sounds ridiculous, but you saw for yourself, I don't have any background here, and even my phone doesn't exist here," you tried to explain, keeping it as realistic as possible. It was hard considering you were about to piss your pants from fear.
"Then how did you get here? Why?" Ghost continued to interrogate you.
"I don't know how, all I remember is the blinding light and loud noise before I woke up here. As for why, I have no answer for that. I wasn't planning to come here at all." if you wanted to be on their good side, you had to be as cooperative as possible.
You played the original game, so you knew how bad the torture could be if you didn't.
"This is ridiculous-" "But you must have had some sort of connection to our universe if you ended up here of all places no?" Ghost cuts off Laswell by shooting another question.
This was a tough one, how do you explain that to you, they were merely fictional characters in a game you played often.
He continued to stare into your soul as you tried to cook up some lie on the spot.
"Well?""I don't think I can answer that" you carefully profess.
"You do realize all this makes you suspicious, hiding anything won't be good for you at all. If we were to assume the worst-case scenario, it would be that you are with the enemy. You will be executed on the spot" Price explained, eyeing you questioningly.
"If you insist on knowing, then... My connection to your universe is simple, your universe is a game in mine."
"What the fuck is that supposed to me-"
"Calm down Ghost, continue (y/n)" Price held down Ghost, and you took another deep breath."I told you, you won't take it well. In my universe, all of you are fictional characters from a famous game franchise called Call of Duty. I know enough about each one of you. I know your past, and I know your future." one more deep breath.
"Prove it then," Laswell said "Tell me something about myself then."
"You were born in Annapolis, Maryland, you have a master's degree in strategic intelligence analysis, and you are married to a woman," you responded.
"This information is easy to find if you search hard enough," she tried to shoot you down.
"That's true, but as you can see, my phone is right in front of you, broken. Suppose I was lying, you had my phone the entire time since the moment we met. So there is no way for me to get this information unless I was telling the truth." silence followed after that.
