AN: quick question, do y'all like the choice chapters, or should I stop them?
The medic arrived with Price, who was also successful in his mission. Now you had 4 Intels to analyze before making advances. But before that, you had to get your leg checked first.
As the medic started to unwrap the cloth, he took chunks of your skin off with it. After your blood dried and clotted, it became one with the cloth. The action reopened your wound, but the medic insisted it was necessary to check and clean it properly, otherwise, you might get an infection.
Your leg looked ten times worse than you expected. There was a deep cut in the middle, and the skin around it was severely burned. There were traces of black smoke covering it, but you could tell Ghost cleaned it as best as he could with what he had before wrapping it up.
Using rubbing alcohol to clean your wound, the medic pressed a clean cloth against your leg. Your already burnt skin went on fire once again, turning red. You felt as though you had one leg in hell, literally. Gritting your teeth to prevent yourself from screaming, you put a hand to your mouth, whimpering as tears ran down your cheeks.
When he finally cleaned it properly, he got out a medical thread and a needle. Your eyes widened, and you subconsciously moved your leg towards you in a protective manner, but his grip was strong. You turned your head away, not wanting to see the process.
You felt the needle prick you several times, and your skin moved in rhythm to it until it finally stopped. Finally, he grabbed a new set of clean cloth and wrapped it around your leg. You were dazed by the amount of pain you were going through. If you were to stand up for more than 20 seconds, you were sure you would faint. The medic said some stuff to you, but you couldn't process anything. Everything went dark soon after.
"......-gerous, we can't risk it" you heard a voice whisper. It sounded far as if the person was in another room. There were a few moments of silence before they talked again.
"Laswell, if we lose her, we might lose the war. Are you sure about this??" it sounded like Price. Was he talking to Laswell over the phone? Why did he sound angry?
You tried to get off the bed. You were in a different room than the one where you were treated in. You looked down at your leg, there were small traces of blood on the cloth but it generally looked better than before. The pain was still present, slightly more bearable than before though. To your side, there was a small stand with medical pills and a few notes on it.
Hang in there Squirrel~ Soap
Rest well (y/n) - from GazThere was also a small sculpture of a Phoenix on one of the notes, it looked slightly different but you knew it was from Ghost. The note under it had a small skull man doodle who supposedly represented him.
A sudden bang startled you before Price entered the room you were in. He looked baffled as if he didn't expect you to be awake any time soon but quickly recomposed himself before sitting on the ground across from you. He looked torn, his eyes going from your face to your leg, then back to your face again.
"Your injury is bad, even with the medic involved you need to rest for a long while." he paused for a second.
"Laswell still wants you to work from behind the scenes. However, I want to give you the choice. If you don't want to do this anymore, we will fake your death, and you can rest for as long as you need." you said nothing. You were touched by his consideration for you, but if he faked your death, wouldn't that mean the deal will be over as well? How would you go back?
"And if I want to continue on?" you asked warily.
"We would appreciate that, I just don't want to give you more than you can handle. You are part of my team, and you are my responsibility. What kind of captain would I be, if I failed my own team?" He said.
"I will support you from the dark then, I can't afford to sit and do nothing while you guys risk your lives out there." you wanted to stand up, but your leg failed you. Price stood up instead, and placed a hand on your shoulder, slightly squeezing it.
"Don't push yourself too hard" was all he said before he left the room. You leaned back, your back touching the wall behind you. Ghost entered a few minutes after, a water bottle in one of his hands while the other held a note. He placed the water bottle on the stand before handing you the note, which was the prescriptions for the pills and when you should take them etc.
"We will start the meeting in 2 hours, so rest up." with that he left the room, gently closing the door behind him.
