Chapter 56

Following Eddie outside I savored the view of him in the outfit that fit so well both aesthetically and just comfort wise, the worn leather like a second skin the whole look was just perfection. Shaking my head to regain focus before I dropped this heavy case on my feet I turned my attention to surveying the yard. The replenished barrier kept demobats and demodogs so far away their cries were barely audible, though I could still see the demobats swirling in the skies in the distance outside the barrier. Glancing down towards the shots and grunts of exertion I saw the sparring that was clearly underway in the yard.

Finally setting the case of arrows aside near one of the shooting areas across from the makeshift targets beside the sparring area. I sighed and yawned stretching my arms widely above my head letting loose a purred yowl at the release of tension, the stretch having loosened some of the muscles that had complained rather heavily at me lugging that case about.

Glancing down at the box my eyebrows rose "well..that explains it..fucking 100lbs of arrows.."

Eddies brows rose as he came over to me glancing at the very large case of arrows, he knew they didn't weigh much individually so that had to be a lot of arrows and sure enough,

"..well that's why..fucking box has 2000 of em! Shit..your arms alright after that sweetheart?"

I nodded my smile warm at his concern as I bent over and back doing some of the yoga stretches I remembered, enjoying the several pops my back and shoulders made as I undid some of the tension carrying the heavy box gave. Shivering slightly in the cool breeze I looked around seeing who was doing what, some were shooting and others sparring.

Nancy, Lucas and Robin were shooting what sounded like bb's instead of bullets at some of the targets and doing a decent job. Murray was walking around to and fro from each sparring pair helping them with their form becoming more and more the teacher with each interaction. The pairs were as follows: Steve and Dustin, Jonathan and Will, Eleven and Argyle, Mike and Wayne.

Brows arched I was impressed by the overall forms of the sparring groups, Eleven was occasionally using what appeared to be her abilities to help with her blocks as she used a staff with Argyle who wielded a wooden sword.

Uncle Wayne was utterly patient with Mike who seemed to be learning fast as he nearly tripped Uncle Wayne with his staff. Figuring this was as good a place to start as any I walked over to My Uncle what a weird thought..but with you being Eddie's wife, it was true.. I patted him on the shoulder with a grin "nice job, I'd be surprised but I know how hard you worked at the plant so I'm not surprised to see you kicking ass, wanna take a break and shoot some targets while I give Mike a new target?"

Chuckling at the fire in my eyes he nodded handing his wooden 'sword' over to you. Nodding with a smile I let it sway back and forth in my hands and balanced it across my palms "very well balanced..not bad at all." Looking over at Mike I grinned adjusting my stance to rock back and forth on my heels. "Ready?"

Eddie was glad that Red had given his Uncle a break from trying to spar with such a younger opponent even knowing that Uncle Wayne isn't weak by a long shot he still worried. Patting his Uncle on the shoulder as he walked by, he watched trying to see who he'd get to spar with as his Uncle picked up one of the rifles and practiced a few shots with live ammunition. Glancing between the surprising accuracy of his Uncle and watching Red spar was an interesting task.

I panted as I blocked another attempt to swipe my legs out from under me as I returned it with a glancing blow to Mikes shoulder "you're running out of arms...if I get another hit in, you're going to become the Black Knight..gonna call it a flesh wound?"
