Elena threw on the cardigan she had hung up earlier in the hall. On her heels it was difficult to keep up with Ledger as he practically flew to the garage, but she tried very hard. One can only imagine the shock to the Nathan's family and the damage they might suffer. It seems that the guy plays not the least role in Andrew's life, since he snapped and, leaving everything behind, decided to rush to him.
Strangely enough, it turned out that the upstart was not so alien to human qualities, as all this time she thought.
"Let's take a bike" Ledger threw over his shoulder, heading for his black Kawasaki, riddled with neon light green stripes.
Elena slowed down in surprise.
"Bike? Wouldn't it be better to take a car? "
"The car would take us an hour to get across town, and the bike would squeeze past the cars".
He threw his leg over the leather seat and looked at the girl sideways.
"If you don't like it, you don't have to go. I'm not gonna wait. Either get on, or you'll find out everything tomorrow at college. "
Elena clenched her teeth and walked resolutely to the bike. She hadn't ridden one in a long time. Four years, exactly. The last time had been with one of her ex-boyfriends. It wasn't that she didn't like these beasts, on the contrary, only she was afraid to ride with her ex. He'd bought himself some kind of sport bike, not the expensive kind, but he hadn't really learned how to ride it. Three times he fell down, and once even together with Elena, and after that time the girl tried to stay away from them. Her own life was more expensive. But now she knew that she had to make up her mind. Cowardice was not her weakness, and Ledger was right: now there was no faster way to get to Nathan.
Running her fingers up her skirt to lift it, Elena leaned on the footrest and threw her leg over it. Yeah, who'd have thought she'd be sitting next to Andrew on the same motorcycle? The engine roared, and the girl's hands went down looking for something to grab on to so she wouldn't get blown to hell. Andrew glanced at the neat, black-capron-clad knees that appeared to be pressed against his sides. He ripped his helmet off the frame and handed it back.
"Put it on".
"What about you? "
He smirked. Look how thoughtful she is. She's doing her job as a teacher at the top of her class.
"I'll be all right" He said, and waited till her nimble fingers had the straps under her chin.
"I am ready" Came the answer from behind him.
The look in his chameleon eyes flickered back.
"Do you want to kiss the pavement as soon as I start? "
He took her arms and moved them around his waist, pressing her breasts into his back with force.
"This is not a bicycle, Elena, hold on tight. I'm not in the mood for sex right now, so don't worry, I won't get hard from your hot embrace".
Elena tensed, but did not show it.
Feeling the female arms finally wrapped around him quite firmly, Ledger started the engine and sprinted from the spot.
Elena took her breath away. Her heart thudded to the very bottom, and then rumbled in her ears from the momentary speed they gained. She squeezed her eyes shut for a few seconds, then opened them slowly. The gates of the house whizzed by, the trees blended into a mush of color, and the wind was deafening, even though she wore the tight protection of a helmet.
She instinctively leaned forward and was frightened out of her wits, pressing her whole body against his broad back, and her fingers literally stiffened from the force with which they slammed into the guy's hard belly. Damn it, it turns out she hadn't ridden before. It was a child's merry-go-round, compared to this murderous thing that split the air with a whistle.
