Everything was going great, one might even say excellent. Andrew lost the first game. Ira and Stas headed to the second table and only occasionally threw mocking glances at Elena and Ledger.
Elena enjoyed winning so much that she did not notice how they were brought another round of beer. It was a brand she did not know. Stas ordered it. It was dark but tasty. Tart and spicy. A little stronger than she and Ira drank, but that was okay. The girl was so baffled by her future victory that she didn't go into her thoughts about the new brew.
She didn't have the slightest desire to lose. Who knows what that madman would think of?
"Where did you learn to play like that? " Asked Andy, watching how Elena broke the pyramid.
"My father taught me. He's a professional" Proudly boasted the teacher.
"I have noticed".
Elena looked like a panther. She walked gracefully around the table, picking the right angle, and bent to strike. Ledger's fly was bursting from the internal pressure. Damn Miss Elena! She knows what she looks like from the side, twirling the cue in her hands like something sacred. He would have let her spin something else, thicker and weightier. And then he'd score a couple of balls himself, only this time in her own "pocket". Wet and narrow.
Andrew's jaw clenched every time the girl's fingers rubbed the tip with chalk in a polished motion.
And when Elena once again took a fucking sexy pose and was about to hit the next ball, Andrew suddenly walked up to her, stood beside her and gently removed a strand of hair that had fallen out of her ponytail. The girl shuddered when she felt the warmth of the guy's fingers, and she raised her head.
"It falls on your eyes and prevents you from aiming. Didn't you notice?" He asked seriously, only she didn't believe it. He's just trying to knock the ground out from under her, the bastard.
She didn't answer. She turned away and took the shot. Her fingers were trembling, and the ball didn't go where it was supposed to.
Damn that student. And her own reaction on him. The hairs on her arms bubbled up under her sweatshirt as she got closer to him.
"My turn" Andrew walked along the table and chose the ball he was going to score. The angle was not very comfortable, but the other options were even more difficult.
He leaned over the table, positioned the cue, when suddenly he saw that right across from him, on the opposite side of the table, Elena leaned too, and the look of her brown eyes was directed at him over the ball. The triangular neckline of her blouse at the line of his eyes made him swallow nervously. What a sly bitch.
"You can't take that punch, Ledger"
Her plump lips stretched into a smirk, and he could barely contain his own. Elena got so excited and completely forgot about subordination. Or was it the magic beer the waiter had brought her? Most likely, that was it, because Stas had to order the strongest one.
"Sweet Elena, I'll repeat your favorite phrase: "Never be a hundred percent sure of anything".
He swung and hit the ball. It went straight into the pocket.
"What an asshole" Elena thought to herself. She straightened up and was momentarily lost. Andrew was standing across from her, head bowed, and smiling. Just smiling without the arrogance in his facial features, without that contrived arrogance and bravado.
Something in her chest seemed to scratch at the sight of that smile. And it made her want to smile, despite the fact that the party promised to be a failure. Only now she realized that he called her "Sweet Elena" and she was even more embarrassed. God, tomorrow she would be terribly ashamed of all this game, incomprehensible staring, which was not repulsive, but made everything inside tremble.
