Andrew has tried to stay out of Elena since the beginning of the week. He called the teacher and canceled classes without explanation, and on Tuesday Elena found the keys to the car on her desk in the department. She hurried to the window, but she did not see Andrew among the students. Her Daewoo was parked nearby.
She wondered what had happened. If she remembered correctly their last night, Ledger was in a great mood. The student had won the game, was having fun and was bothering her with vulgarities. The faint memory of him saying that he wanted to be deep inside her, each time responded to a sharp excitement in the bottom of her stomach.
Even though Elena tried very hard not to think about the guy, somehow her thoughts returned to him. The way the cheeky student had beaten her, and his satisfied laughter. The only thing that wasn't clear was why he'd suddenly decided to avoid meetings? Or was it some new plan she didn't know about? There were many questions, but she wasn't going to call Andrew and ask. The teacher won't run after a student. He brought the car, so everything was fine.
No matter how hard Elena tried, but she could not convince herself that she did not care about the situation. She did not want to admit it to herself, but the absence of Ledger brought the old dullness back into her life. He rushed in like a hurricane and turned the established world inside out.
On Thursday morning, driving up to the college for the third class, the girl noticed a white Ferrari near the entrance. Her heart jumped and awakened an inexplicable hope. Elena didn't understand why, but before she got out of the car, she looked in the mirror and painted her lips red lipstick.
She was about to open the door when her cell phone rang. She had to find it in her purse. She looked at the screen and raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"Hello?" Elena accepted the call, continuing to look for a familiar figure in the crowd.
"Hi, my love" A man's voice said cheerfully from the other end of the line.
"Hi, Greg" The girl said warmly, not paying attention to how the man called her. Andrew was not among those present.
"I flew in yesterday and would like to see you. I missed you".
Elena sighed. She and Greg broke up on a friendly note six months ago. The man decided to fly to England to build a business there. He invited Elena too, but she had to refuse. She decided that it would be difficult to maintain a long-distance relationship, and it turned out to be the right thing to do. At first, of course, it was difficult.
Elena was used to this man always being around, and there was no denying that their feelings were serious. But over time, the veil of habit dissipated, the calls became less frequent. Each of them took up his own life and career, leaving behind past emotions. Elena realized that if they hadn't broken off the relationship before Greg left, things would have only gotten worse.
It was doubtful that a grown man with natural needs for six months would remain faithful. She felt free too. And digging inside herself now, Elena noted that the familiar voice did not arouse her former feelings. The girl was glad to hear him, but only as a good acquaintance.
"I'm at work. You can come over at one o'clock. I'll be free, and we'll go for a lunch" She said, because she wanted to talk. Greg was not a stranger, a year of relationship was not a month. They had a lot in common, and it would have been rude of her to refuse. Plus Elena was also interested in how his life had turned out.
"Great, text me the address".
"Ok. I'll see you then".
After dropping off the address, Elena took another look in the mirror and went to the college. As she greeted the students, she looked casually for Andrew, but in vain. He didn't show up for class again, though the Ferrari was still parked at the entrance.
