I woke up in a train.

The first thing I remembered hearing was Erin's voice jolting me awake. We were in a train car. The seats were red velvet and there was a large window to my left showing the mountainous terrain speeding by. Erin's face looked red as if she had been screaming.

"Look who's up." Came Fwhip's voice and I looked up. He and Gem were sitting directly across from me and Erin. Gem's staff leaned against the window, but it was positioned threateningly as if Gem were saying, 'I could grab it and blast you in the face in two seconds flat if I needed to.'

I tried to stand up, but something pulled me back. I tried to turn around and look behind me, but I wasn't able to do that either. Then I felt the heavy cuffs around my wrists, much heavier than the old blackstone ones, although I knew it was still blackstone.

Erin was also chained to the seat, and she seemed furious.

"I was just explaining what's happening to your psychotic little sister." Fwhip said with a small smirk. "We're bringing you two to the Grimlands for a trial. I believe you've already been acquainted with the court house Phoenix."

"Didn't I blow that piece of crap up?" Erin growled.

"We remodeled it." Fwhip shrugged. "And don't try any funny business, the rest of the rulers are in this train, along with a few dozen guards. One step out of this train car and you're done."

"So I could crash this train and take everyone down with us?" Erin asked casually with a sinister look.

"You wouldn't stand a chance." Gem said sharply.

"Oh I dunno...you said we didn't stand a chance against you...Didn't we basically kill everyone?" Erin smirked.

I bit the inside of my cheek, but I didn't say anything.

"Any comments Scott?" Fwhip asked in a cheerful voice.

When I didn't say anything, Erin spoke. "Nah, he's just annoyed we lost. But we'll be gone soon enough. He's probably planning on how we're going to get out of here right now-"

"Can you just shut up Erin!?" I snapped, a little harsher than I meant to. "We're already in a bad situation, you're making it worse!"

Erin instantly fell silent, and she looked a little hurt. I immediately regretted it. I wanted to apologize but I was extremely aware of the Tay's siblings eyes on both of us.

"Ah...he blames you for losing." Fwhip said, quickly snatching up the opportunity to turn us against each other.

The pain in Erin's eyes instantly deepened when he said that, and her eyes flickered a deeper shade of red. My jaw clenched, I obviously didn't blame her, it was my fault we lost, but apparently Erin didn't think that.

"I heard from Joey even Xornoth ended up despising you in the end...brothers be like brothers." Fwhip said leaning towards her with a grin. Uh oh. Even I realized he had made a mistake.

Even with the blackstone, magic flared around Erin's wrists, and I saw the red energy flowing in her veins. Her head snapped toward him. She stood up as much as she could chained up and lashed out at Fwhip, kicking her legs up at him.

I heard a cracking sound as her foot hit his face, and Erin fell to the ground. Fwhip jumped backwards into his seat as far as he could and Gem jumped up, pointing her staff at Erin's neck as she sat on the ground, panting in fury.
