Rhaenyra
Rhaenyra could not in the slightest sense comprehend what had just occurred. She had never thought of Alicent in that way, but she didn't hate it. Her mind rushed as she made her way down to the courtyard. There was only one way to move her mind away from Alicent, flying.
Her trainer had been furious when he found out she had taken Syrax out for a late night fly the other night. But what he was most angry about was the fact that she had fallen off. Her bond with Syrax was one of the strongest, he said, to see you give up on your flying was devastating yet what was much worse was to see your bond weakened. As a result she had agreed to go to the dragon pit and train for at least one hour every single day to improve. She hadn't been yet that day with all of the ruckus about the Lannister boy and she thought it was a fine excuse to be late.
What she had done with Alicent was... unspeakable. If Rhaenyra's father found out, he would most definitely tell Alicent's and vice versa. She knew how deep the Hightower's were in the religion of the seven, being from old town, and this was widely unacceptable for them. Which made it much more confusing thinking back because... Alicent had initiated the interaction.
Rhaenyra let out an exasperated groan as she climbed into the carriage that had been waiting for her. Thinking about Alicent made her want to run straight back to the garden and tackle her to the ground. But she knew she mustn't and so she laid her head back against the carriage and let the vibration of the cobblestone streets carry her away.
She practically ran to Syrax once she got to the dragon pit and found she was missing from her cave. She ran back up the stairs to the main chamber of the pit to see her instructor, Domys, holding Syrax's reins.
"You thought you would be allowed to fly right away? After that fall? No sweet child, you are naive!" He chuckled letting Syrax's reins go and walking to her.
"What are we doing then? Surely I will not be giving her commands? I'm not a child." She retorted.
"That is precisely what you shall be doing! Smart child!" He exclaimed clapping his hands together. "Let's start with something minimal, command her to come here."
She rolled her eyes and turned to face the dragon. "Māzīs, Syrax!" She shouted. The stubborn dragon sat and stared. "Māzīs, Syrax!" She shouted louder, yet, nothing. She brushed her hair out of her face and got a whiff of lavender, reminding her of how much she would rather be back in the garden with her favorite person in the world. "Rȳbās, Syrax. Dohaerās." She said in a more calming tone locking eyes with the beast.
Connection with a dragon was the strangest yet the most powerful feeling. The sensation of both hearts beating at the same speed, breaths being taken in unison. She closed her eyes listening to her heart beat. "Māzīs, Syrax." She whispered. Silence, then followed by the sound of Syrax taking a step, followed by another.
She trudged over and Rhaenyra lifted her hand up to greet her by rubbing Syrax's favorite spot on her scaly neck. She laughed as the dragon let out a long growl in appreciation.
"Was that good enough for you!" She turned giggling expecting her instructors harsh glare but she was met with her saddle laying in his place. She smiled and picked it up, she missed this more than she had realized.
It was a beautiful night. The moon was full and it lit up the entire sky. Rhaenyra looked out over Kings landing and took a deep breath of the warm air whipping at her face. She had been flying on Syrax for over an hour but she couldn't get enough. She laid back and stared at the stars lifting her hand up as if she could grab them.
She had decided what she wanted with Alicent. She wanted more. She wanted to kiss her again, she wanted to bring her on Syrax and share this experience with her, and only her. She took a deep breath and sat up grabbing the reins, she wanted to get back to Alicent as fast as she could.
As she knocked on Alicent's door she smoothed her hair and took a deep breath. She was certain in her decision. The door opened slowly and Alicent peeked her head out.
"Yes, princess?" She said. Rhaenyra could see her eyes were red and glassy.
"Might we speak? Just for a moment?" She could tell Alicent did not want to speak but she knew that once she made her point, her mood would change. Alicent nodded and let her in.
"You reek of dragon." She said stepping back.
Rhaenyra decided to ignore that comment and continue with her speech. "I wish to be with you, at all times of the day. I wish to break fast with you, I wish to lay my head on your lap and feel your soft fingers trace across my face. I wish to smell you when I wake and when I lay my head down to sleep. I wish to be with you. I want to be with you." She said glancing at Alicent for approval. Rhaenyra began to worry, Alicent hadn't said anything. After a few seconds, which dragged on like hours, Alicent's face contorted and she turned away.
"Rh- Rhaenyra." She choked out.
"What?" She couldn't possibly fathom why Alicent hadn't sprang into her arms with relief.
"My father, saw." She sputtered grabbing onto her bed frame to steady herself.
Rhaenyra brought her hand up to her forehead and smoothed her hair in a pitiful attempt to calm her nerves.
"What does this mean?" She asked hurriedly. She could feel her eyes swell with tears which she wiped away before they could fall. She awaited an answer but was met with silence. "Alicent?"
"I must go away. Only for a short period of time." She whispered, pausing to let it sink in. "Just until my father decides what he wishes to do with me."
"What? Will you be able to return to being my escort? Shall I ever see you again?" She asked grabbing Alicent's arm and pulling her to face her. She looked at Alicent, tears running down her face. Alicent stared at her, her own tears flowing. Rhaenyra knew that she didn't know the answer.
She leaned in slowly as if to not startle her and pressed her lips against Alicent's. The kiss was sloppy, neither had really kissed anyone prior to their first in the garden, and both girls were sniveling slightly which didn't make things better.
Rhaenyra smiled as Alicent hiccuped halfway through the kiss. She pulled back to stare at Alicent. She noticed that Alicent's gaze fixated on the ground, Rhaenyra could sense she was embarrassed. No doubt her father had shamed her relentlessly for hours, while she had been gone flying. She felt a twinge of guilt shoot throughout her body. She then leaned in and kissed Alicent's cheek, pulled her into a hug and buried her face deep into the crook between Alicent's neck and shoulder, using it to muffle her sobs. Alicent did the same.
They eventually climbed into Alicent's bed and fell asleep holding each other.
