Alicent
Rhaenyra pulled away. "My father?" She asked before betrayal filled her face.
"It was not my idea. My father, he told me to visit him after the queen died. I had no choice." Alicent was crying now. Her words jumbled together.
"You could have told me. You could have told me of your fathers schemes. I would have understood. He would not still be the hand if my father knew how he had been manipulated."
"Then what should happen to me? I am here because of him and him alone. He is the reason I have had this childhood with you."
"Alicent no he is not. He is the reason you became my mentor but we made this connection ourselves. I cannot believe you would think that I shall send you away if your father is no longer the hand. I would never..."
"Truly?"
"Yes! I am the princess am I not? Though I wish I could be a normal girl and you could be with me and we could be normal together, I am not and neither are you."
She nodded. "What shall we do then?"
"I shall go back to the keep this evening, once we have spent the day together, and I will have a chat with my father."
"You think you can change his mind? I have worked hard to gain his love."
"It is not real. Is it? Do you love him?" She looked to Alicent.
Alicent had enjoyed their time together, yet she would never see him as anything, she could never when she had Rhaenyra.
"I care for him, but no. I do not love him." She paused and looked up at Rhaenyra who was smiling at her.
"Do you love me?" She asked taking a step forward.
Alicent nodded before laughing. "It is much lighter out here. You are correct."
"We can stay as long as we want. And then tomorrow we may return if you like. And following day we may do the same. This can be a place where we can speak freely. We do not have to think about the keep or our idiot fathers!"
"Rhaenyra!" Alicent laughed cupping her hand over Rhaenyra's mouth.
"Nobody shall hear me!" She cried out into the air after pulling Alicent's hand from her mouth. "This shall be a place of quietness and loudness and girlness and grossness, for nobody will ever see. We can be free here. We can talk and laugh and be, like real people do."
"That sounds nice." Alicent smiled at Rhaenyra. Her eyes looked even more like lavender than they usually did. Her face had changed along with her mind and body since the day they had met, but her eyes stayed the same.
Alicent leaned close and found Rhaenyra's lips. They had perfected how to kiss, they knew each other like the backs of their hands.
They could be safe here. Alicent would be safe from her father schemes from then on and she could focus on what she truly wanted to do, not court a man that she did no like, but focus on herself, and Rhaenyra of course.
It was the first time since her mother had died that she had felt truly and utterly safe. Here with her love, kissing as if neither of them were anyone to anybody.
