Rhaenyra

"It's only been half a year since my mother died, and already they tried to marry my father off and replaces me as heir. I know those men and how they plot in their secret councils when I've been sent away." Rhaenyra said walking to the center of the sept with Alicent.

"You cannot worry at the matters of lords and kings, Rhaenyra." Alicent responded. Rhaenyra stopped and stared at her. Alicent had become distant in the last few months and it had began to worry Rhaenyra. "What if your father were to remarry?" She asked. Rhaenyra remained staring in disbelief. When she refused to say anything, Alicent continued. "Your father loves you... he chose you for his heir."

"He didn't choose me. He spurns daemon!" Rhaenyra scoffed.

Alicent crossed to the flame alter and kneeled. She lit a candle and turned to Rhaenyra. "Kneel with me." She smiled as Rhaenyra rolled her eyes and sauntered over. "I find this is a way to be with my mother." Alicent said as Rhaenyra kneeled next to her. "Here in the quiet of the Sept, I feel close to her. I know it sounds foolish-"

"I don't think it's foolish." Rhaenyra whispered. "I don't."

"Good." Alicent whispered back a smile crossing her face. "Because I thought you might try." She said passing Rhaenyra her own candle to light.

"I-"

"If not for me, then, perhaps for them." She said looking to the ceiling. Rhaenyra sighed and took the smaller candle Alicent was offering and used it to light her own candle. She blew out the flame on the smaller and twined her fingers together.

"What do I say?" She asked Alicent looking over to find her still staring at the ceiling.

"Whatever you wish. It's only for you and the gods to know." She looked over and gave Rhaenyra a small smile.

She thought of what to say to them. They had taken her mother, and her brother. What could they help? She thought of her father and how he treated her. The tears welled in her eyes but she didn't fight. She covered her face with her hands and let them fall. Alicent grabbed her arm, reassuring her.

"I want him to see me as more than his little girl." She confessed stealing a glance at Alicent. She was strong.

"My father does not know the language of girls either." She smiled. Rhaenyra laughed. "I know that I must make the effort."

"Thank you" Rhaenyra smiled and placed her hand on Alicent's. She noticed her fingers were much more red than usual with blood. "Alicent, your fingers!" She gasped.

"It's no matter. I must be going." Alicent mumbled pulling her hand free and leaving the Sept as quickly as she could.

Raenyra sat in her thoughts for moments after. Something had been doing that to Alicent, some form of worry. Rhaenyra would discover what it was.
